Added on August 29, 2026 inFree Entertainment News, Free TV News

I’ve known for a while that Holly, Tate, Chanel, and Johnny are all leaving Days of Our Lives. Honestly, it’s a bit of a cosmic betrayal—we’re experiencing a shortage of captivating younger characters, and these four have given us so much to talk about! Will the stars align for their departure, or will it prove to be a flop like those cringe-inducing plot twists that always seem to happen around a Mercury retrograde? Spoilers for the week of 8-31-26 suggest these couples won’t be riding off into the sunset together, and it sounds like at least one pair is headed for a heartbreak instead of happy ever after. Keep your tissues handy, folks!

I’ve known for a while that Holly, Tate, Chanel, and Johnny are all leaving Days of Our Lives.

I wish they weren’t — we have a shortage of interesting younger characters, and all of them have interesting storylines.

Worse still, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 8-31-26 suggest that these couples will not be leaving on a happy note, and at least one couple may not be leaving together.

Holly Meets A New Guy Who Seems to Have a Problem With Her

There has been a lot of buzz in the Days of Our Lives fandom about Brandon Butler joining the soap.

Butler played an adult version of Bo and Hope’s late son, Zack, several years ago, which makes him an interesting casting choice.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 8-31-26 say that Butler will debut as Mason Whitfield, a new student who seems to have a poor opinion of Holly for reasons that are not yet apparent.

The most likely explanation is that he’s related to Sophia Choi somehow, or at least, he’s heard the rumors that Amy Choi has spread about how Holly is responsible for her daughter’s death.

That said, enemies-to-lovers is a tried and true soap formula, so Mason’s existence could provide the final unraveling of Holly and Tate before these characters are written out.

The set-up for an affair is obvious.

Tate dropped out of school to open his own gym. (God, I wish it was as easy to launch a business in real life as it seems to be in Salem!)

Aaron and Holly already discussed it being weird that Tate isn’t on campus or going to classes with them this semester, and now this new guy comes along.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tate is jealous, worrying that Holly would rather be with a new guy who is at school than one whose life isn’t going in the same direction hers is — and no matter how much Holly denies it, eventually that’s exactly what happens.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Days of Our Lives does that a LOT. The more someone protests that they’re not interested in someone, especially if they say, “X is my past. You’re my future,” the more likely it is that they will fall hard for them.

Of course, this guy could be sent by Amy Choi, Rita, or some other problematic person to mess with Holly, which could cause her to decide to move to France to be with her mother, and this time not let Tate talk her out of it.

Last time, she decided at the last minute not to go to Paris because Tate wanted them to be together in Salem, but he’s not even going to Salem U anymore, and if everything falls apart between them, Holly will have no reason to stay in Salem.

This is speculation at this point, but since Holly is leaving soon, this seems like the most logical route to go.

Meanwhile, Chanel Stops Trusting Johnny…

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Johnny completely deserves whatever problems are headed his way, marital or otherwise.

After promising Chanel that he would not let EJ drag him into a life of crime and threatening to disown EJ if EJ asked him to do anything shady, Johnny decided to help EJ every time EJ asked for a favor.

He makes a lot of noise about not liking what EJ is asking him to do, but he comes through every time.

Do you think Chanel and Johnny will part ways before they leave Salem?

That was exactly what Chanel was afraid of when she agreed to stop trying to interfere in Johnny having a realtionship with his father.

Chanel already is having doubts after learning that Johnny kept Lexie’s presence in the DiMera tunnels secret, and she doesn’t know that he also helped EJ cover up the Coreseal mess.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

That secret is likely to come out soon, as Sarah and Xander already know, Ari is piecing things together, and Holly is having a hard time keeping quiet about what EJ did to her.

And when it does, Chanel will be less than thrilled, to put it mildly. She already suspects that the arsenic in the water at the Horton cabin contributed to her two battles with cancer.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 8-31-26 say that Chanel will doubt Johnny’s loyalty. That only makes sense if she learns something unacceptable about what Johnny has been doing to help EJ.

I hope this isn’t the end for Johnny and Chanel. I like them as a couple, and if they’re leaving, I want them to leave together.

It would make sense for them to leave Salem to get away from EJ and his pernicious influence, but first they’ll have to work through the destruction he’s caused in their marriage as well as throughout Salem.

Meanwhile, Salem Has an Epidemic of False Relationships That Will Likely Become Real

Cat has been pretending to fall for EJ in order to get information out of him, and we all know where those kinds of tricks usually lead.

Cat’s not the only one, either — Philip is supposed to propose to Gabi, which is likely part of their subterfuge to get him into the poker game, but I’m sure it will lead to a reconciliation down the line and possibly a real engagement.

Meanwhile, Joy is fantasizing about marrying Alex while she awaits surgery, Salem hosts a father-daughter dance that includes adorable little Victoria as well as pre-teens Charlotte and Rachel, and to nobody’s surprise, someone is watching as Belle and Chad land in Italy.

That last one sounds incredibly unexciting. It was obvious the story was going there, so the only question is who is doing it and whether they’re trying to protect the couple or harm them.

My favorite of these Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 8-31-26 is the father-daughter dance. Which one is yours?
