"Get Ready to Spin: Mercury Goes Direct and Your Week Just Got a Whole Lot More Interesting!"

Added on July 20, 2026 inFREE ASTROLOGY

As Mercury in Cancer continues its tumultuous tango with Saturn in Aries this week, let’s face it: communication may feel as blocked as a clogged drain! Ever wondered how often the cosmos throws a celestial traffic jam your way—keeping you from expressing just what you mean? But don’t worry; this cosmic chaos may soon ease up. By Thursday afternoon, Mercury will station direct, so hang in there! Remember, the stars are just as unpredictable as your last relationship. Keep reading to get the inside scoop on navigating the ups and downs of the planetary positions this week and to avoid any slip-ups in your conversations. There’s a lot happening, and trust me, you won’t want to miss it! LEARN MORE.

em surpriseMercury in Cancer continues to actively square Aries Saturn all week through Thursday, then Mercury stations direct in the afternoon. Slowdowns and blockages in communications, plans, and attitudes may take a while to clear, but it’s a bit like a traffic jam: There’s relief with the end in sight.

On Tuesday afternoon, retro Mercury reaches orb of a sextile to Venus in Virgo and perfects the aspect after Mercury is direct, exact on Friday morning. Be picky about what’s good enough. Just because a deal is better than bad, doesn’t make it a good deal. There are good deals (maybe even great deals) to be had in this time period, so don’t sell yourself short because of an emotional pang from waiting.

During this same period, the Cancer Sun moves into square with Taurus Chiron, so the learning curve is initially felt in the gut. Embarrassment? Worry? This might be the easier time to spot where you’re needing a patch up to the ego. The Sun holds this Chiron square as it moves to Leo midday Wednesday, and it might be tough to field the ego sting with grace. Whatever story you’re telling yourself, make sure it’s one that you won’t end up paying for in the end. None of this has to be a big deal if you commit to a humble attitude. Mercury-Saturn could actually help with that.

All week, Virgo Venus continues in square to Gemini Mars, both in Mercury-ruled signs. Figuring out how to make the most of your active hours is a job for Venus-Mercury, but remember to give it time. What you want to do and what makes sense to do may not coincide, at least not without some attention to detail. If you try and something doesn’t work out, trying again is a smart move.

As for the Moon and the general mood, we move from Monday’s cardinal air in Libra, into fixed and watery Scorpio mid-morning Tuesday through mid-morning Thursday. Then Thursday night and Friday, the Moon takes a fiery, Jupiteran jump into mutable Sagittarius. During this time, retro Juno conjoins retro Pluto in Aquarius. Both sextile Aries Neptune, trine Gemini Uranus, and oppose Leo Jupiter. The mood cruises from polite and pleasant, goes deep, then rises high, all under a strong, passionate, intense, compassionate umbrella of protection.

To my mind, Juno is the kicker. If you’re unduly caught up in rivalries, competition, and jealousy, what others may experience as protective power can be skewed to accommodate your fears. Have faith and believe in best case scenario and vision clears for truth. Even if wind up thinking you were wrong, you’ll feel and fare better by far. It’s akin to “Pascal’s Wager”. Don’t get too spun up; let the universe have your back.

Monday’s Libra Moon forms a t-square with the retro Mercury-Saturn square and trines Gemini Mars. Err on the side of balance, be breezy!

Through the night into Tuesday morning, the Libra Moon squares the Cancer Sun. Can I just say: It is what it is. Issues of control and what’s owed don’t have to keep you up all night if you employ that umbrella and give it up to the universe to hold for you. When the Moon moves to Scorpio, it opposes Chiron and squares Jupiter and Juno-Pluto, a grand square. It also forms a yod with Uranus-Neptune, so that’s extra evidence to use your Jedi wave like a champ.

Addendum for Tuesday: Don’t get sucked into sparks for violence. That violence will escalate quickly. Mercury sextiles Venus; sweeten your words and be practical.

Wednesday the Scorpio Moon sextiles Venus and trines slowing Mercury. Hooray! Cradle some practical pleasure, hidden away if you have to. Replenish your feeling for life and love. The Sun moves to sunny Leo.

Thursday’s Scorpio Moon cruises along as an undercurrent as the Sun finishes its active square to Chiron. It then heads into Sagittarius where it shines through a supportive trine to the Leo Sun. Fun!

Thursday evening, Mercury stations direct as the Moon hits 29 Scorpio, then Juno exactly conjoins Pluto as the zero degree Sadge Moon trines the Sun. Watch your mouth. Somebody might hold you to it. Passionate moments are great, but a kiss is not a contract. Ask for clarity later.

Overnight into Friday morning, the Sadge Moon sextiles exact Juno-Pluto, trines Neptune, opposes Uranus, and trines Jupiter. Friday is a better time to seek clarity, or just let it all sink in and appreciate all the fabulous flirty moon juice (fire) for now. Evening takes the fabulous Sagittarius Moon into trine with Aries Saturn, so take your commitments out for a ripping good run.

On second thought, I would never ask for clarity under a Sadge Moon. Too much chance for exaggeration. Wait for Capricorn at the end of the weekend. Or don’t. A romp is a romp, and Sadge is up for a romp. Maybe I just don’t like too much truth all at once.
