Erika Kirk’s decision to skip a Turning Point USA event in Georgia has taken on a new perspective following recently obtained reports.
The mother of two had previously cited security concerns, which the new reports have linked to her ability to safely travel to and from the event.
The new info also claims that Erika Kirk was worried about protecting her children at the gathering, and it partly influenced her decision to opt out even as the event went ahead.
Erika Kirk’s absence from a Turning Point USA event in Georgia has remained a talking point, particularly after the organization’s CEO cited security concerns as the reason she did not attend.
At the time, questions intensified when Vice President JD Vance appeared at the event, prompting many to wonder why it was deemed safe for him but not for Erika.
However, a source who spoke with Us Weekly has now offered clarification, stating that the “specific threats” Erika received were not aimed at the event itself, but at her “ability to get to and from the event.”
As such, “her security team felt that they could not protect her life,” leading Erika to follow their advice and skip the appearance.
“There was absolutely no reason to cancel the event,” the source added. “It was specifically for her participation, her ability to get to and from the event that they were concerned about.”
Beyond concerns for her own safety, Erika reportedly did not want to attend amid the threats in order to protect “the kids that are attending these events.”
The claim is seemingly tied to how her husband, Charlie Kirk, was murdered in front of hundreds of students at a TPUSA event in Utah last year, which may have left many of them traumatized.
The source also said that people shouldn’t be surprised that Erika is facing such threats, especially with conspiracy theories continuing to circulate that she was involved in her husband’s death.
“It’s very clear that there’s a coordinated effort here, and I don’t think anybody should be surprised that we ended up in a situation where it was not safe for her to go to an event that she was widely publicized and speaking at because there were threats on her life,” the insider noted.
Erika’s absence from the Georgia event wasn’t the only issue critics focused on. Some also pointed to what appeared to be a low turnout, using it to mock both Erika and the organization.
Several individuals claimed that “poor ticket sales,” rather than security concerns, were the real reason behind her absence.
The reported low turnout was later addressed by a TPUSA spokesperson on the Real Charlie Kirk YouTube page.
According to the spokesperson, more than 2,000 people attended, and turnout would have been higher if not for the alleged interference of left-wing groups.
“The left-wing groups swarmed the ticketing, and they try to book up all the ticketing, and they don’t show,” the spokesperson claimed, per The Blast.
“That’s one of their forms of protest,” he continued. “Normally, we are good at sniffing it out, but they used a new means and activities, so we are working with our ticketing systems to adjust for that moving forward.”
In the wake of the Georgia event, Erika also courted backlash over her proposed appearance at a school in northern Phoenix, Arizona.
Several students and parents reacted to her impending visit, with some saying her topics are “too extremist for a school.”
“It’s a little crazy because I would never have expected someone like her to show up at a high school,” a student wondered, per the Daily Beast. “I’m pretty shocked. Honestly, I’m surprised it’s even happening.”
Security concerns for the children were also raised, given Kirk’s prominent status and her previous no-show at the Georgia event.
Ultimately, the principal of the school sent an email to parents saying that Erika and her team have chosen to move the event elsewhere.
“Ms. Kirk’s team, in collaboration with Club America and school and district administration, recommended that the event be moved to an offsite location after the school day,” said Pinnacle High School President Jeremy Richards.
He also noted that the location is outside the Paradise Valley Unified School District and that the event would remain closed to Club America members and one invited student guest each.
