Porsha Williams is celebrating a major legal victory after her ex-husband Simon Guobadia’s defamation lawsuit against her was dismissed. The case, which centered around social media posts Williams shared about erectile dysfunction, has officially come to an end … for now. While the situation sparked headlines and online speculation, the latest ruling shifts the momentum in Porsha Williams’ favor as the former couple’s messy split continues to play out in public.

The legal drama began in 2024 after Williams posted information about erectile dysfunction on Instagram. Although she never directly named Guobadia, he claimed the posts strongly implied he was the subject, leading him to file a defamation lawsuit.
Guobadia alleged the content caused him significant emotional distress and damaged his reputation, arguing the information was presented as fact rather than opinion.

According to reports, Guobadia ultimately requested the dismissal himself. “This motion is brought in good faith, not for purposes of delay or tactical advantage,” he said, per Daily Mail. He added that he “does not abandon his claims or retreat from the legal issues presented.”
The decision came after complications arose regarding his ability to attend trial following his deportation from the United States last year. While the judge granted the dismissal, they also issued a warning that Guobadia could be responsible for Williams’ legal fees if he chooses to refile the case in the future.

Despite the dismissal, Guobadia is making it clear he isn’t backing down. “I made the decision early this year to voluntarily dismiss the case,” he said. “The court has now ruled, and critically, Porsha Williams’ legal team’s attempts to have the case dismissed with prejudice and to recover attorney’s fees were both denied by the judge.”
“This means the dismissal is on my terms, without prejudice, and no fees were awarded against me. I walked away from this litigation by choice, not by force,” he continued. “A dismissal without prejudice means I retain the full legal right to refile the same claims against Porsha Williams at a future date. No court has ruled that my claims were invalid or without merit.”

Guobadia went on to clarify his stance on the ruling, emphasizing that he still sees a path forward. “This is fundamentally different from what Porsha Williams’ legal team was pushing for, a dismissal with prejudice, which would have permanently barred me from refiling and would have represented a definitive legal victory for her,” he said.
“That request was denied. So was her request for attorney’s fees. She did not walk away with the legal vindication her team was seeking. I want to be clear that this matter is far from over,” he continued. “I am currently conferring with my legal team regarding whether to refile the case within the time limit granted by the court.
He concluded by saying, “Porsha Williams and her representatives should not mistake my voluntary dismissal for an abandonment of my legal rights or the merits of my claims.”

Before the case was dismissed, the judge had indicated that Guobadia sufficiently demonstrated he may have been the subject of Williams’ posts. However, the court also noted that the content appeared to include objective information about the condition, adding complexity to the legal arguments on both sides.
Williams has consistently denied any wrongdoing or liability throughout the case.

The legal drama is just one part of the former couple’s turbulent split. Williams and Guobadia were married in 2022 in two elaborate ceremonies before their relationship quickly unraveled. By 2024, they had filed for divorce, which was finalized last June.
Reflecting on the emotional journey, Williams shared, “You go through different stages. You have that anger. You have the moment where you have to fight for your life in a court situation. And then, toward the end, you have the clarity where you realize you are still blessed.”
She added, “Your family is by our side, your child is protected; there’s a whole new life that you can start.” Since then, Williams has moved forward, finding happiness in a new relationship with girlfriend Patrice “Sway” McKinney.
