It’s been nearly three years since the release of The Terminal List, but Prime Video has finally announced the premiere date for season 2 of the action thriller series starring Chris Pratt. During Amazon’s Upfronts presentation, it was revealed that all eight episodes of the new season will drop on Prime Video on October 21.
Based on the best-selling novels by author Jack Carr, the series centers on James Reece, a Navy SEAL commander who battles unknown conspiratorial forces seeking to upend the world order.
The second season is based on Carr’s second novel, True Believer, with Reece “on a journey of violent redemption, finding a new purpose after finishing his list.” In doing so, he’ll uncover a conspiracy that reaches from Moscow to Langley and ties into his own family’s history. The new season will be a true globe-trotting adventure, with the story taking place across the Indian Ocean, Southern and Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
In addition to Pratt, the second season cast also includes Tom Hopper, Constance Wu, Dar Salim, Luke Hemsworth, Gabriel Luna, Costa Ronin, Olga Kurylenko, Yul Vazquez, Arnold Vosloo, Shiraz Tzarfati, and more.
Although fans have had to wait longer than expected for the main series, the franchise did return last year with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a prequel following Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) on his journey from Navy SEAL to CIA.
The prequel hasn’t officially been renewed for a second season, but there’s still more story to tell that could fill the years between Dark Wolf and the events of The Terminal List. “We’re seven years earlier, which gives us a long runway,” Kitsch said last year. “We have a pretty hard outline of where Ben’s gonna go if we’re lucky enough to do season 2.“
Kitsch teased that the potential second season would tell an even darker story. “We shine a brighter light into the darkness of service,” he said. “I love where we ended because we get way darker and I think you’re finally gonna see Ben truly fall in season 2, which obviously goes toward Terminal List season 1 and why he makes the decisions he makes. I’m excited. I hope we can take one more swing and truly see this guy fall.”
