Could the cosmos be conspiring once again in the sneaker realm? Just when I thought we’d seen it all in the Space Jam universe, another unreleased gem bursts onto the scene, dazzling us like a supernova at midnight! Enter the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam Galaxy,” a design that feels like it was plucked straight from the Milky Way. Instead of the classic black patent leather we know and love, this beauty showcases a color-shifting green finish that morphs depending on your angle—talk about eye candy from another planet! As if that wasn’t enough, glow-in-the-dark laces and outsoles add a whimsical space-themed twist to this mostly elegant silhouette. So, why are we not lacing up these cosmic kicks? Rumor has it, the materials were just too rich for the average sneakerhead’s blood, keeping this stellar sample firmly stuck in the design lab. Buckle up, because this ride through sneaker lore is about to take off!
Another unreleased Space Jam sneaker has surfaced, and this one looks like it came from another planet. It is the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam Galaxy” sample.
Instead of the usual black patent leather, this pair uses a color-shifting green finish. The color changes depending on the angle, which gives it an out-of-this-world look.
The rest of the shoe has a premium leather upper. Glow-in-the-dark laces and a glow-in-the-dark outsole add to the space theme. Overall, it is a bold take on a classic. The Air Jordan 11 is usually elegant and dressy. This version feels futuristic and a bit playful.
So why did it not release? Reports say the materials were too expensive. That kept the Galaxy as a sample, even though the design made it far into development.
The Galaxy was once expected to be part of the holiday lineup. Early mockups from zSneakerHeadz had many fans excited. We covered that earlier Space Jam Galaxy report when it first appeared, and it pointed to a December release.
That plan changed over the summer. In July, the Galaxy was replaced by the all-green “Green Screen” 11, which uses suede and glow-in-the-dark soles.
The anniversary collection still has plenty to look forward to. The “Magic Ball” arrives November 11th, the “Green Screen” follows in mid November, and the original “Space Jam” returns December 12th.
Samples like the Galaxy remind us how many ideas never leave the design room. This one is a rare peek at what could have been. Overall, samples like this are what make sneakers so special, and even more so if you can get your hands on a par.
