Set for release tomorrow (July 3), the Queen of Pop’s fifteenth studio record is titled Confessions II, consists of sixteen tracks and features a special guest appearance from Sabrina Carpenter.
Never one to shy away from her hotly-publicised history, deep within the sounds of standout track ‘Bizarre’, Madonna (full name Madonna Ciccone) loosely references her four-year marriage to Sean Penn.
Penn, who is a triple Oscar-winning actor, was Madonna’s first husband. They divorced in 1989 before she walked down the aisle for a second time, with Snatch director Guy Ritchie.
The song’s brutal lyrics go on to suggest that the 65-year-old was never comfortable with his wife’s seismic fame, and would often display his insecurities on their red carpet walks together.

Specifically, the singer namechecks the 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible she gifted him at the time of their wedding, plus Penn’s conviction for reckless driving in 1987.
‘Love is the strangest thing. Just when you think you’ve finally let go, it comes back to you,’ the lyrics go.
‘Movie star, deep blue eyes. In Hollywood, we’re a perfect prize. He drove way too fast, Shelby Cobra wasn’t meant to last.’
An element of anger precedes these lines though, as Madonna sings: ‘Roll out the carpet for us, but you don’t share it.
‘All ’cause you’re threatened by me, you won’t admit it. The little things that you do don’t make me want you. Who knew love could be so bizarre?’
Further down the line on ‘Bizarre’, she reflects: ‘I know I left you behind and you resent me. A thousand reasons why you could never have me.
‘The thought of being with you is so indecent. I guess you’ll never know my dirty little secret.’

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, this hippie-infused comedy action caper focussed on Leonardo DiCaprio‘s ex-revolutionary Bob Ferguson, who must come out of hiding when his old nemesis, Lockjaw, re-enters the picture.
