The Inbetweeners is coming back for a Netflix reboot with almost all of the main cast set to return.

While the cast have stated for years that they are not interested in returning, a new deal was struck with the production company behind the Channel 4 series and will supposedly see the core four lads back.

Fans are also hoping that Emily Atack, who played Charlotte Hincliffe in the original The Inbetweeners series, will make a return.

Previously, she was asked why she was not invited to the disastrous Inbetweeners ‘reunion’ Fwends Reunited, which aired on New Year’s Day in 2019.

Atack claimed that she was initially booked for the New Year two-hour special, only for producers to tell her she was no longer needed at the last minute.

Speaking on Capital FM in 2018, she acknowledged that ‘these things do happen’ more often than you think.

“Unfortunately, I don’t really know what happened there,” she said.

“I was booked to do it, was very much looking forward to doing it and then the day before, I was told I was no longer needed for it.”

The reunion was a fairly unmitigated disaster, so did she miss out on too much by not appearing? (Channel 4)

She added: “It’s alright – these things do happen, and I think they just decided to go a different route with it, I don’t know. Or it was to do with production timings and things.

“These things do happen and they’re just doing a different route, I think, and I wish them all the best and I know it’s going to be great and the fans won’t be disappointed.

“It was all very professional and it’s just business. It happens all the time. You get booked to do something and then something happens, plans change and then sometimes you’re not booked anymore.”

The hit show could be coming back for a third film, but might not include Charlotte Hinchcliffe despite Atack's newfound fame (Channel 4)

Atack has not appeared in either of the two films, and her return as Charlotte would make a great hook in-and-of-itself for a reunion to see her reunite with Simon Bird’s Will.

Buckley agreeing to return for the third film is itself a U-Turn from the actor, who had previously stated he had no interest in re-appearing as Jay.

Speaking on The Chris Moyles Show, he said he would ‘say no’ to a reunion, adding: “Not because I don’t think I would have an amazing time doing it, because I know I would. I love the boys, I love the writers. Doing The Inbetweeners was the best job in the world.

“As I’m getting older, it’s looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved. There’s not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.”

LADbible have contacted reps for Netflix, James Buckley, and Emily Atack for comment.
