Dua Lipa has been found to have given a gesture of goodwill to residents who opposed her ultra-suave wedding party to Callum Turner in Sicily over the weekend.
However, it hasn’t been taken well.
It all began when the two areas including a square and Piazza Sant’Anna were cordoned off for the event, leading to angry residents taking action.
Posters were put up by those opposing the party, which read ‘Palermo is not for rent’ and ‘Our square is not your living room”.
As well as posters being hung up to display displeasure at the interruption to daily life, graffiti also appeared in the Piazza Croce dei Vespri.
However, it appears that the singer has taken action to appease residents who are the closest to the event – namely those who experience parking problems caused by securing the area around the Villa Igiea hotel, which overlooks the Palermo’s marina.
According to The Sun, Lipa paid the residents £5,000 in compensation, as a thank you.
As for why the celebrations might need to cordon off entire squares, The Guardian reported that there’s a good chance the guest-list is huge.
Apparently, DJ Mark Ronson and his wife, actor Grace Gummer, Charli xcx, Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Donatella Versace, Harry Styles and maybe even Robbie Williams could be in attendance.
That’s some star-power.
But that doesn’t mean the locals are any more forgiving for the disruptions.
Clarissa, a local, told the outlet: “I really like Dua Lipa’s music and admire her for all the activism she does.”

She added: “But while it’s a pleasure to hold the celebrations in Palermo, it has brought a lot of problems – for example, for three days we’ve been forced to park miles away and walk to work. It’s not right to block the city – I could understand if it was for the pope, but not for a singer.”
However, some didn’t agree.
Concetta Picciuca, a hotel worker told the outlet: “I’m always listening to her music, it helps me to relax.
“There are people who complain, but I think the event is a good thing because it’s good for the economy … Perhaps, like me, they should come to work by bike instead of by car.”
The celebrations are a stark difference to the pair’s wedding, where Lipa and Turner said their ‘I dos’ at the Old Marylebone Town Hall on Sunday 31 May.
Joined only by a small group of their closest people at the ceremony, pictures of the event seem intimate.
