What’s that shining star in the Instagram galaxy? Yep, it’s none other than actress Daisy Ridley, making a dazzling return to the platform after hitting pause back in 2016! After wrapping up the much-discussed “Star Wars” sequel trilogy—featuring the cinematic gems from 2015 to 2019—she’s back and possibly more relatable than ever, sharing glimpses of her life even as fans scratch their heads over a mysterious mass wipe of her page on October 15. With this sudden social media adjustment, one can only wonder—did she consult the stars before this bold move? Well, the cosmos seems to whisper that change is in the air! Just a day later, she blessed our feeds with a sneak peek into her upcoming movie, “Ebenezer,” striking a balance between curiosity and excitement. Will this be the cozy autumn change we need, or is it simply a playful twinkle in the universe’s eye? Let’s find out what Daisy’s up to as she resumes her Instagram adventure!
Actress Daisy Ridley is back on Instagram! Although she quit the platform in August 2016, she returned following the end of the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, which consisted of 2015’s “The Force Awakens,” 2017’s “The Last Jedi,” and 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”
Despite the backlash to the trilogy, Ridley didn’t seem to mind sharing small snippets of her life with her fans, who were shocked to learn that she had completely wiped her page on October 15. Although she hasn’t addressed her decision to step back from social media, she took to her Instagram Stories the following day to remind fans that she has a new movie coming out!

On October 16, Ridley returned to Instagram to share a photo on her Instagram Stories, not her main page. She can be seen smiling next to a large promotional poster for her new movie, “Ebenezer,” which hits theaters next month.
Ridley is joining a variety of famous faces, including Rupert Grint, Sam Claflin, Ian McKellen, and Johnny Depp as the titular Scrooge. Some fans have speculated that she stepped away from social media because she feared backlash for appearing alongside the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.
She posted the image as a video, set to John Williams’ “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” Fans quickly spotted the “Star Wars” connection, as John Williams composed the scores for all nine films in the Skywalker Saga.
Fans who visit her Instagram page now see only one video: a collaboration post with Letterboxd promoting her 2024 film, “Magpie.” Because the video was posted in collaboration with their account, it wasn’t removed when she wiped the rest of her page.
Fans quickly commented with questions about why she wiped her page. “What’s going on? All Daisy’s posts just disappeared except this one,” one fan commented. “What’s happening here, guys?” another follower asked.
“So, are we going to talk about the elephant in the room?” a third fan chimed in. “Hope you’re okay, Daisy. Looking forward to Ebenezer,” another follower wrote. “Much love, girl,” another fan shared. “WE LOVE YOU, DAISY,” another wrote in all caps next to a red heart emoji.
The “Young Woman and the Sea” actress has yet to comment on why she removed her photos from Instagram, although this isn’t the first time she left the platform.

The “We Bury The Dead” actress left the platform completely in 2016, less than a year after she made her debut as Rey in 2015’s “The Force Awakens.” Although many fans thought that she left the platform due to online bullying over a post she made about gun control, she told Sky that she left the platform due to pressure to post more often.
“I felt a pressure being on it,” she said. “I was like ‘I need to post. Oh my God, it’s been this many days’. It’s actually been kind of nice not to be on it. I’m 24. I have a lot of growing up to do. I have to deal with loads of stuff myself personally. For that to be projected with millions of people watching, that is like a bit of an extra pressure.”
“I think some people handle it well,” she added. “Just right now it’s not for me, but who knows.”

Late last month, the BBC reported that she surprised Worcester Film Festival organizers by agreeing to join their judging panel. The festival took place at the Odeon cinema from September 22 to September 26 and showcased more than 250 films.
“We usually reach out every year to agents to see if there would be anyone up for it, and we were really surprised when Daisy’s agent came back almost straight away to say yes,” festival co-founder Henrik Harms shared.
“She can’t make it, unfortunately, to the ceremony but she’s given us a video to play, and it is the most wholesome video,” he added. “In it, she says it’s the first time she’s ever done judging for a film festival before, so that’s really nice.”
Ridley was joined on the judging panel by Jessica Henwick, who played Resistance pilot Jessika Pava in “The Force Awakens,” although she and Ridley shared no scenes together.
