Have you ever found yourself belting out a tune, only to realize it was written just days before its big debut? Well, grab your cosmic cocktail, because Drake’s latest revelations are just as riveting! Recently, the 6ix God joined a gambling livestream hosted by Trainwreckstv, transforming what could’ve been a mundane betting chat into a lyrical serenade that has us all buzzing. In a moment that felt more spontaneous than planned, he shared that his hit “Janice STFU” was crafted merely three days before his new album, ICEMAN, hit the shelves! Talk about astrology’s influence—perhaps the stars were aligned perfectly for creative bursts of genius. As we dive into the unexpected twists and chart-topping revelations surrounding this track, let’s see how spontaneity and stars collide in the ever-evolving saga of Drake!
Drake was recently a guest on a gambling livestream from Trainwreckstv, where he sang along to some of his songs and said this could be his preparation for his upcoming tour. When “Janice STFU” came on, the 6ix God revealed he made it just three days before ICEMAN came out.
“You know, I did this song three days before the album came out,” he expressed, as caught by Akademiks TV on Instagram. “I shot the video the same day.”
Since “Janice STFU” became Drake’s biggest ICEMAN hit, this might take folks by surprise. But that’s how it goes with big album releases sometimes: the track that emerged at the last minute may just be the most resonant one of the bunch. It’s also one of the catchiest, most pop-friendly, and accessible cuts on the whole LP, while still retaining some of the project’s sharp lyricism.
“Janice STFU” is also a historically significant track for the OVO mogul, as it became his 14th number one song on Billboard. This broke Michael Jackson’s record for the most number one songs by a solo male artist.
However, Drake’s “Janice STFU” also faced some scrutiny as of late. Songwriter Aviel Calev Hirschfield claimed the Toronto superstar stole the lyrics and chorus melody from a demo he had sent his team, which the OVO camp immediately denied.
Not even two weeks after filing the lawsuit, though, Hirschfield retracted it. However, there’s still a door open for him to refile the suit, but fans doubt it will happen.
Elsewhere during this stream with Train, the 40-year-old heard the song “Take Care” and revealed he will probably never perform it again. This disappointed many fans, but it raised questions as to why. Maybe Drake’s beefs are the answer. After all, this is a collaboration with Rihanna, and it seems unlikely that they would be in a good place these days.
Nevertheless, this revelation about “Janice STFU” is quite shocking and impressive given how successful the song was. It also brings up interest in what the recording and songwriting process was like for the rest of ICEMAN‘s tracklist.
