Over the past four decades, Matthew McConaughey has made quite the impression in Hollywood, however, there’s one flick that seems to eclipse them all in the minds of his fans. And, believe it or not, it might not be what you think! Is it the iconic lines of Dazed and Confused? The emotional weight of Contact? The romantic antics in The Wedding Planner? How about the eerie depths of Frailty? Or those classic moments in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? No, folks, the film that fans can’t stop buzzing about is none other than Christopher Nolan’s stunning sci-fi masterpiece, Interstellar. As we dive into this nostalgic conversation, under the stars and perhaps considering the cosmic currents of today’s astrology, let’s reflect—why does this enigmatic journey through space resonate so deeply? Maybe it’s because, just like the planets aligning, McConaughey’s portrayal hits all the right frequencies within us! LEARN MORE.

Matthew McConaughey has been in a lot of movies over the last forty years, but there’s one movie that fans want to talk about more than any other when they see him. And it’s probably not the one you’re expecting it to be.

Alright, Alright, Alright?

Could it be Dazed and Confused? Contact? The Wedding Planner? Frailty? How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? The Wolf of Wall Street?

Nope, the one film McConaughey most often talks about with fans is Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.

The sci-fi epic celebrated its tenth anniversary several years ago, and McConaughey told Variety that the film is bigger than ever. “The 10-year anniversary of ‘Interstellar’ was like the movie had just been released,” he said. “The people that come up to me, 95% of it is [to talk about] Interstellar.

It’s certainly one of McConaughey’s best, but I must admit that I’m surprised Interstellar takes up so much of his interactions with fans. I would have bet cash money that most are giving him the “alright, alright, alright.” That’s probably the remaining 5%.

Interstellar was a big success upon its release in 2014, earning largely positive reviews and grossing over $681 million. “In Earth’s future, a global crop blight and second Dust Bowl are slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable,” reads the synopsis. “Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a brilliant NASA physicist, is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth’s population to a new home via a wormhole. But first, Brand must send former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and a team of researchers through the wormhole and across the galaxy to find out which of three planets could be mankind’s new home.

The Rivals of Amziah King

McConaughey will soon be seen in The Rivals of Amziah King. Following the death of her mother, Kateri (Angelina LookingGlass) reunites with her beloved former foster father, Amziah King (Matthew McConaughey), a honey-maker working in the backwoods of rural Oklahoma.

The film actually had its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, but is finally set to hit theaters with a limited release on August 14, before going wide on August 21.

In his review, our own Chris Bumbray said, “The Rivals of Amziah King one of the most unpredictable and wildly entertaining films I’ve seen in a while. Hopefully, now that it’s finally coming out it doesn’t fly under the radar, as it’s a great piece of work and should rank among McConaughey’s best-ever roles.
