Sweet Magnolias Season 5 premieres on June 11, and we’ve got our girlfriends and the margarita mix ready to go.
It’s one of the few series that highlights small-town charm, enduring friendships, and heartwarming romances.
Netflix dropped the official trailer and first-look images for Sweet Magnolias Season 5, and audiences are in for a treat.
The trailer teased the three ladies: Maddie Townsend (Joanna Garcia Swisher), Helen DeCatur (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliot), who experience life changes.
Maddie moved to Manhattan, so at least part of the series will be in the Big Apple, instead of the small-town charm.
The promo hinted that the trio shops for Helen’s wedding dress there, which means my girl gets the wedding she deserves, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Let’s dissect how this could be the most dramatic season yet.
I love that Maddie followed her dream and went to Manhattan to work in publishing.
The series splurged for the ladies, and they were decked out. All three of them looked gorgeous in new clothes.
Maddie looked happier than ever. She has a new husband who puts her needs first and supportive children.
I’m looking forward to seeing the series explore more of her career and her marriage, but I’m also relieved that Cal is still involved with the restaurant.
He’s become a massive part of Erik’s life and Sullivan’s, so I’d hate to think Cal and Maddie left Serenity permanently.
Maybe they kept both residences, or maybe Ty stays in Serenity when he’s home on break.
While I’m excited to see more of Maddie with the other kids in Manhattan, Maddie and Ty hold a special place in my heart.
Helen Decatur is my favorite character, and I’ve waited for this wedding for years.
I haven’t stopped smiling since we got confirmation from the official promo that Helen Decatur and Erik Whitley are getting married.
I love how much of the promo is devoted to Helen finding the perfect dress and finding the ideal dresses for her bridesmaids.
Heather Headley teased last year that Helen’s wedding would be the event of the year with pure elegance, and I suspect she’s right.
I pray that she and Erik don’t get cold feet, and that whatever insecurities still linger, they can work them out.
I was excited when Dana Sue and Ronnie decided to go into business together. It felt like they’d get a better story.
I didn’t want there to be more marriage troubles. Can’t they come up with something better for them, especially since the series always makes Ronnie the bad guy?
If they really make him cheat again, I’ll be disappointed and angry. Brandon Quinn deserves better!
He’s such a talented actor who could give Ronnie such layers.
I hope the promo makes it sound worse than it is because I wanted to see Dana Sue teaching at her cooking school and the two of them running the E-bike business together.
The best part of Sweet Magnolias is that these ladies show up for each other no matter what.
That’s the kind of life-long friendships we all crave, and this series is like a warm hug in all kinds of ways.
After the way Annie and Ty left things at the end of Sweet Magnolias Season 4, we expected some angsty tension, not for them to be totally out of each other’s orbits.
It’s exciting to see the series delve deeper into Annie’s relationships with her family and friends. I love the Mini Magnolias and how far they’ve come.
The promo teased Annie with another guy, but I’m not worried about that. She’s young and needs to mature.
I spied everyone at the ball park, so Ty will likely be playing baseball again, and he’s the one who threw the pitch they all cheered for.
It would be the perfect way to reunite Ty and Annie and bring Ty back to his roots. In the books, Ty played baseball for years before reuniting with Annie, so it’d be amazing if they followed that storyline.
