As the cosmos shines brightly and Jupiter aligns with Saturn, a unique cosmic energy unfolds, perfectly mirroring the unlikely alliance blossoming between Superman and Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow. This celestial connection prompts us to ponder—could even the fiercest of rivals band together in the face of a greater evil? With Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) set to join forces against the villainous Braniac (Lars Eidinger), the anticipation is palpable, especially as we catch glimpses of the action through recently leaked behind-the-scenes photos. Fans are buzzing about the sight of a battle-damaged Superman and Luthor in his iconic (albeit over-the-top) power suit, teasing thrilling confrontations that are bound to electrify the screen on July 9, 2027. The stakes are high and the drama is real—after all, who doesn’t enjoy a good superhero throwdown? The stage is set for an epic showdown, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how this dynamic unfolds. LEARN MORE

James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow is busy bringing one of the most unlikely team-ups to life on the silver screen, with Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) joining forces to defeat Braniac (Lars Eidinger). As the film continues to roll, eagle-eyed snoops are skulking in the shadows to capture some behind-the-scenes snaps of the production. Recently, some images of Superman with battle damage and Lex Luthor wearing his iconic (and ridiculous) power suit are making the rounds. The images tease an upcoming superhero skirmish that’s sure to be the talk of the town when Man of Tomorrow comes to theaters on July 9, 2027.

In the first image, we see David Corenswet’s Superman striding through a complicated path of cameras and filming equipment, his abdomen seemingly roasted by a laser beam. The damage to Superman’s suit is enough to show his chiseled abs underneath. That must be one hell of a weapon. The second pic shows Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in his bright green and purple power suit. Luthor designed the suit so he could go head-to-head with Superman, but from what we know, he’ll use it to fight Braniac as well. The suit is extremely comic book-accurate, though I’m sure some diehard fans will bemoan its look online. The third and fourth images show Supes and Luthor having a staring contest while Luthor holds a weapon that looks as if it escaped a Doom or Timesplitters video game.

Gunn talks Man of Tomorrow

While speaking on the Howard Stern Show last year, Gunn dropped a few story details. “It’s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,” he said. “It’s more complicated than that, but it’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly. I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. I just love the script so much.”

Who else stars in Man of Tomorrow?

David Corenswet will be back as Superman alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Lars Eidinger is set to play Brainiac, which I’m pretty excited about, and Lanterns star Aaron Pierre will make an appearance as John Stewart. Also expected to return are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

Matthew Lillard recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role, and Adria Arjona has also signed up. She’s believed to be playing Maxima, but that hasn’t been confirmed, leaving many fans hoping she will be playing Wonder Woman.

The film is set to be released on July 9, 2027.
