The former reality TV star has gathered support from the masses after he declared his intention to secure a seat in office. Since January, his voice has been heard, and his name continues to ring on the lips of many, endorsing their support in this political race.
Spencer Pratt was moved to run for office after he lost his home in the tragic Pacific Palisades wildfire. Before he decided to contest in the upcoming election, he used his platform to call out those in power, including incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, for negligence in relation to the destructive incident, which claimed 12 lives.
Pratt has soared and surpassed the incumbent Mayor in campaign funding for the Los Angeles mayoral race. So far, “The Hills” alum has raised over $500,000 for his campaign since announcing his intentions to run for office in January. According to the reviewed campaign records, Pratt has raised a total of $539,616.85 which is almost $50,000 more than his opponent, Bass.

Pratt is going into this race as an independent candidate, although he registered as a Republican in 2020. He originally registered as an independent in July 2008 and re-registered as a Republican in August 2020. The TV star also hit the polls for the November 2025 Proposition 50 redistricting campaign in California. As reported, Bass, on the other hand, lags on the fundraising train with a total of $494,734.76 since her campaign in January.
While Pratt has gathered the support of many, especially since making promises to address the pressing issues of homelessness in L.A., not everyone is in his corner. PEOPLE shared that the reality TV star turned politician has his very own sister turned against him and his political aspirations.
In February, Pratt’s younger sister, Stephanie, spoke out against him on social media, claiming that his mayoral bid is only an attempt to “stay famous.” It is no news that the Pratt siblings have a strained relationship that has gone on for years. Stephanie made a number of allegations in her series of posts, where she claimed to give “a history of Spencer.” She alleged that her older brother “beat” her, got her “hooked” on drugs during her teen years, and was once in a cult.
However, she gave the mayoral candidate and his wife their flowers for the work they have done for the Palisades following the fire outbreak, “but L.A. does not need another unqualified and inexperienced mayor. A vote for him is a vote for stupidity,” Stephanie noted.
After the fire outbreak, which claimed the lives and property of many, including Pratt’s residential and family home, the former reality TV star used his platform to speak up against those in power. He called out the governor and incumbent Mayor, stating that the authorities failed to contain the blaze once it broke out, allowing it to ignite and spread into residential areas, destroying property.
Pratt stressed that the tragedy of the fire outbreak could have been mitigated if they had intervened quickly and not “allowed a fire to smolder for a week.” Months later, he has a meeting with federal officials, including General Pam Bondi, to discuss the government’s plans to build low-income housing developments in Palisades without addressing the pre-existing infrastructure issues.
Seeing his efforts and work, many began to label Pratt as a political activist, a tag which he strongly rejected as reported by The Blast, stating that his efforts were triggered by the serious loss he and his family suffered during the disaster. The TV star turned politician reiterated his thoughts about those in charge of the city in his campaign speech, adding that Los Angeles, unfortunately, now thrives with a fundamentally broken system designed to benefit only people at the top and a clique of friends.
Kristin Cavallari stands behind Pratt and his ambitions in the political circle and is not afraid to admit it. The podcaster used her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast as a medium to address the hot topic after she had been asked to share her thoughts repeatedly.
She said that even though her views on politics are very different, she believes that her fellow TV star would do his best to get the work done and “call out the corruption” in the system. “I think Spencer running for Mayor is f-cking genius. Because I think everyone in politics, I don’t care what side you’re on, everyone is corrupt,” Cavallari noted before urging her listeners to vote for Pratt.
As shared by The Blast, the 39-year-old podcaster admitted that she loves listening to Pratt’s speeches as they are always on point, and she is excited for the people of California. She further told listeners to show a united front as a society instead of harboring divisions due to opposing political views.
After the fire broke out, Pratt’s wife, Heidi Montag, disclosed that they cannot rebuild what was lost in the tragic incident as they do not have the financial means to take on such projects. “Unfortunately for rebuilding, we just don’t have the finances. We could barely pay the mortgage on that house,” Montag said.
She added that they spent their whole careers to be able to put a down payment on their house, and since the fire, they are “kind of displaced” and are not looking to rebuild. Montag noted that other people in their community fall under the same wet net as them, sharing that most houses were inherited or purchased over 5 decades ago, when things were cheaper.
Pratt promised in his campaign message that he is stepping up to the plate because he is tired of waiting for someone else to take action. He stressed that his candidacy was not born out of an interest in politics but rather with a mission to expose the system. “That’s why I am running for Mayor. And let me be clear, this just isn’t a campaign, this is a mission, and we’re gonna expose the system,” the former TV star stated as reported by The Blast.
