Actress Selma Blair is finally speaking directly to her fans. On October 11, she allegedly assaulted crew members on a Delta flight to New York City’s John F. Kennedy Airport. The actress, 54, appeared in court the following day to plead not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and was released on bail.

On Friday, October 30, the actress took to Instagram to directly address the claims that she allegedly punched a flight attendant, bit a crew member, assaulted a nurse, and struck a police officer.
“I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11th,” Blair said in the video. “And you deserve to hear from me directly. And I’m sorry that it’s taken this long.” She revealed that lawyers have asked her to stay silent because there is a “legal matter going on.”
Blair told her followers that she is taking the allegations “very seriously,” adding, “What I can tell you, though, is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself, in that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life.”
The actress added that she will focus on her health going forward. She also said she will focus on caring for her son, Arthur Saint Bleick. She shares her son with her fashion designer ex-boyfriend, Jason Bleick, whom she dated from 2010 to 2012. Arthur was born in July 2011.
“And so, to the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed. I am so sorry,” she continued. “And to the people that have written, or called, or sent wishes of love or caring, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as a scout who is also okay.”
“So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love,” Blair concluded.

On October 16, a few days after the plane incident, the actress’s rep shared a statement with PEOPLE magazine about the October 11 incident.
“Since Sunday night, the public account of what happened to Selma aboard a flight to New York has been built almost entirely on a police statement and a decade-old headline,” Blair’s spokesperson said in a brief statement.
“A handful of journalists have taken the time to report on Selma as a human being rather than a headline, and we are grateful to them,” the statement continued. “But fair reporting has been the exception, and in the space left by our silence, speculation has hardened into something being treated as fact.”

The statement said that the actress suffered a “medical emergency” on the flight and insisted that the actress never intended to harm anyone during the episode.
“We can, however, correct the record on a few points already in public circulation. Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft,” the statement continued. “Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”
The spokesperson went on to say that “the suggestion by anyone that Selma does not have multiple sclerosis is outrageous. Her diagnosis has been public since 2018. What Selma has been able to do physically in the years since is nothing short of a miracle.”
They added that Blair “still has bad days,” as she “lives with pain daily.”
“Selma also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition secondary to her MS, which bears directly on how a medical episode presents to people who do not know her,” they continued. “For the same reason, she travels with a service dog who doesn’t leave her side, and the authorities took her dog from her.”

The statement expressed that Blair has worked on seven film and television projects in 2026, which has seemingly exacerbated her health struggles. They added that she has also been working on other projects, including a skin care line, a clothing line, and a line of eyeglass readers. The spokesperson said that each line is “built around the idea of beauty and utility for people whose bodies do not always cooperate.”
They also applauded Blair for being a “visible and relentless advocate for disability rights, for the MS community, and this year for the Jewish community in the face of rising antisemitism, including from the stage of the ADL’s State of the Arts event at The Jewish Museum two weeks ago.”
The spokesperson noted that the actress has “never been arrested before Sunday night,” adding, “There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we ask to consider the entirety of the facts before rushing to judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion.”
