Members of the band Turnstile have issued a statement after their former guitarist was charged with second-degree attempted murder.
Brady Ebert, one of the co-founding members of the band, left Turnstile back in 2022, with the Baltimore band, who play hardcore punk music, not giving a reason for his departure at the time.
Ebert, 33, has now been charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault after allegedly purposefully hitting the father of the band’s lead singer with his car in an incident on March 29.
The band has previously chosen not to issue a public statement around Ebert, but have now broken their silence about him, claiming that his behaviour had ‘escalated’.
A statement from the band alleges that Ebert ‘used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father [William Yates], causing severe physical trauma’, adding that Mr Yates has since had surgery and they are ‘hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery’.

In the statement, the band said: “Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community.
“After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.”
They continued: “In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public.
“We never addressed it. We chose to protect his privacy and the circumstances around his departure, even when he did nothing to be deserving of that protection.”
The band added: “Over the past few months, his threats only escalated further.
“We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.”
Concluding the statement, they wrote: “We have no language left for Brady.”

Mr Yates alleges that Ebert had driven up to the house in his Buick, sounding the horn, shouting at him and driving away, before returning and hitting Mr Yates, who was standing in the drive.
In a press release, Montgomery Police said that Ebert had gotten into an argument with his neighbor.
A police report said: “The investigation has revealed that Ebert was involved in an argument with his 78-year-old neighbor in the neighbor’s driveway.
“During the incident, and for reasons still under investigation, Ebert struck the victim with his 2001 Buick before leaving the scene without contacting 9-1-1 or providing aid. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, including a broken leg.”
Ebert was taken into custody on March 31 and is being held without bond.
A preliminary court hearing around the alleged crime has now been set at Montgomery County District Court on May 1.
