Ree Drummond and her husband Ladd Drummond welcomed their foster son into their family in 2018 as he moved into their home in Oklahoma after he met their sons, Bryce and Todd, as a high school football player.
As stated in the obtained court documents, Goff was previously involved in an altercation with a police officer more than a year before he was picked up days ago.
The blogger’s son reportedly bit a correctional officer on the hand last May, and at the time, he noted that he had no place to live and had just started working at McDonald’s.
He reportedly identified Drummond’s number as his family’s contact on the court paperwork, and claimed it was for his foster parent, although he did not mention her name.
As for his latest arrest, he was booked into jail on September 15 after officers found him sleeping shirtless near a fountain at the University of Alabama. As reported by TMZ, Drummond’s son was arrested on charges connected to assault on a police officer and drug possession.
An officer documented how they responded to reports of a suspicious person near the campus fountain. Upon further questioning, Goff admitted he was waiting for someone to deliver the “ice” he ordered.
“Ice,” also known as methamphetamine, is described by MedicalNewsToday as a highly addictive psychostimulant drug similar to amphetamine. The substance has powerful euphoric effects similar to those of cocaine, and its use can also be life-threatening.
As noted by TMZ, the officer reportedly told him to leave the spot and then discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant out for him. When the police saw him again on the premises, they attempted to arrest him, but Goff bolted and sought refuge at a hospital where officers caught up with him.
During the process of arresting him, Goff reportedly proceeded to strike the officer with an open hand. Police added that they discovered a glass pipe in his backpack and 1.8 grams of methamphetamine on him.
Goff was booked into Jefferson County Jail on September 15 on charges including second-degree assault of a police officer. He was also accused of attempting to elude arrest, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, with his bond being set at $37,000.
The 23-year-old’s presence in Drummond’s family was expected to introduce them into a moment of bliss and not have them deal with legal troubles; at least that was what the blogger thought in 2020 during her appearance on TODAY.
She revealed at the time that he had been living with the family for over a year and they felt it was the right time to go public with the new addition to their lives. Drummond confessed that she and her husband never planned to foster any child, but the right circumstances brought Goff into their lives, and he has since made it a home.
She noted that Goff’s identity was also kept hidden due to official requirements from foster care services. When he turned 18, they both agreed it was the right time, so she introduced him through the pages of her book “Frontier Follies.”
Drummond described Goff as an essential part of her household, while appreciating the amazing relationship he shared with her two biological sons. She continued that expanding the family showed her more interesting sides of life, stating:
“You just never know what’s going to come your way, and it’s been an amazing experience. You know, lots of little bumps in the road, but the same is true with my own teenage sons.”
Drummond, in an excerpt from her book, shared how her kids adjusted to having Goff around and how it was not an easy process at first. She highlighted the tense relationship between Goff and her son Bryce, noting that the 1-month difference between them in age led to occasional disagreements.
She detailed how she and her husband had to apply care and wisdom in dealing with the conflicts in a way that would not leave one child feeling neglected.
