Piers Morgan has questioned Meghan Markle’s decision not to speak publicly about allegations involving her estranged father, Thomas Markle, after learning of them in 2018.
The broadcaster described the developing story as “shocking” and asked why the Duchess of Sussex had not spoken out sooner to “protect” others.
However, several individuals came to Meghan Markle’s defense, slamming Piers Morgan for trying to “blame” her for her father’s alleged actions.

Morgan weighed in after reports emerged that Thomas Markle was being investigated in the Philippines following allegations raised by his son, Thomas Markle Jr.
The younger Markle reportedly contacted authorities after discovering material at their father’s former home in Cebu.
The allegations concern the alleged possession of child sexual abuse images. Thomas, 82, has denied the accusations, saying he could never do what he is accused of.
Reacting on X, Morgan wrote: “This Thomas Markle story is shocking, and if guilty, he must face full force of the law. But it raises a lot of questions.”
He then asked: “If police alerted Meghan in 2018 to allegations so serious she ended all contact, why was he not arrested? And why did she not go public to protect others?”
His questions also reignited debate over Meghan’s estrangement from her father and the scrutiny she has faced over that decision.

Morgan’s comments about Meghan have since come under heavy scrutiny, with fans on X blasting the journalist for trying to make the situation about the Duchess of Sussex.
One angry comment read, “So you’re still blaming her even though that the letter was sent to Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection she was given assurances that the allegations were being investigated?”
Another asked, “Why didn’t the Royal family go public to protect Andrew’s victims? And why have you used her father to bully her for years? And why would she go public and hinder an investigation? It’s the job of the police to go public with their investigations. You’re still bullying her.”
“It’s clear she couldn’t say anything because he was under investigation,” a third person noted. “Sometimes in life, you have to accept you made a mistake and were wrong. Yet you still find a way to blame her.”
Another asked, “Why is it down to her… she’s not the alleged Pedophile…”
Several others pointed out how Morgan attacked Megahn for distancing herself from her father while giving Thomas a “platform.”

Meghan released a statement saying she had been made aware of troubling allegations about her father years earlier.
She said a letter was sent to London’s Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection division in 2018, and that the letter was subsequently shared with her.
“It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated,” she said.
The Duchess added that she was “deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours” and that her thoughts were with any children who may have been harmed.
Meghan did not provide further details about the allegations described in the 2018 letter. She said, however, that the information was part of the reason she had distanced herself from her father.

Meghan did not disclose further details about the allegations she said she learned of in 2018, but explained that they contributed to her decision to cut ties with her father.
She also addressed years of public speculation about their estrangement, stressing that her decision to keep Thomas away from her and Prince Harry’s children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, was made with their safety in mind.
“I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children was for one reason: to protect them,” she said in her statement.
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families,” Meghan added, expressing hope that justice would be served and that the safety of children would remain the priority.

Thomas has rejected the allegations. In comments reported by the Daily Mail, he said he was upset that his son had made the accusations and insisted he could never commit the acts alleged.
“I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me,” he said. “I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of.”
“This is bulls–t. It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies,” Thomas Sr. said.
The investigation is being handled by authorities in the Philippines. Reports say Thomas Markle Jr. contacted police after discovering the alleged material at the property in Cebu. The precise circumstances and outcome of the investigation have yet to be established.
