Buckle up, folks—this one’s a ride you won’t want to miss!
Model Marlo Mulligan recently experienced a dream-come-true modeling gig that had surprises around every turn. The California based model answered an ad online, was chosen, and has quite the story to tell.
Mulligan, 22, had never been to Las Vegas before landing the role of one of two showgirls riding alongside Bruno Mars during his Strip parade honoring his newly named street. With little time to prepare, she left Sin City with unforgettable memories and a story she never saw coming.
Mulligan is now turning her whirlwind experience into a story about taking chances, trusting timing, and embracing opportunities you often don’t see coming. She sat down with The Blast to share her POV of the experience and a message to anyone chasing their dreams.

When Mulligan got the call that she was hired for a gig in Las Vegas, she didn’t immediately know who she was going to be working with and for what event. And when the details of the job started to be revealed, she was getting ready for an experience she thought she could only dream of.
The model and content creator applied for a background gig online, and despite the generic description, she was all in. She applied to be a “rose girl” but after not hearing back for a few weeks, she just assumed she didn’t get it. But then something magical happened.
“I was reached out to and they told me that I was going to be a confetti girl,” Mulligan told The Blast exclusively. “I sent a photo of myself to the producer and then I get a call telling me that I am going to be a showgirl for Bruno Mars.”

For Mulligan, this job was “one of the biggest highlights” of her career so far. She’s done other modeling gigs and is about to work with SHEIN, as well as content creation, but the way this particular job happened will be something she says she will “never shut up about.”
She flew into Vegas from Orange County, California on Thursday night and had an early call time on Friday morning, the day of Bruno Mars’ parade and street-naming ceremony.
“I found out so late that I was actually gonna be in the car with him. When they called me, I thought that meant that I was gonna be a showgirl walking in heels behind the car, because it’s like, I thought that’s what showgirls do,” she said. “I just had this image of being really dressed up and wearing heels, walking behind the car in the hot sun.”
When she arrived for her call time, everyone was saying, “Oh, you’re going to be with Bruno Mars,” and Mulligan didn’t fully grasp at the time that she was going to be in the car with him, and not walking alongside during the parade.
“And then it really actually hit me when we started going down and walking to where they were, like, oh my gosh, you’re gonna be in the car with Bruno Mars,” she said. “I was like, oh sh-t, I’m gonna be riding next to him.”

Mulligan shared that while the entire experience included some shocking twists, such as being in the car with Mars when she thought she would be walking, she said one thing that wasn’t surprising was Mars’ personality.
“My experience working with celebrities is they can be a little bit socially awkward or they’re just exactly like you think they are,” she said. “Honestly, Bruno was exactly like how he acts online. He was really friendly and really personable and charming.”
She said that before he got into the car with her and the other showgirl, he asked her name and struck up small talk. He told her “she looked beautiful” and was cracking jokes and just being “really friendly.”

After the parade and street-naming ceremony, the first show of Mars’ tour kicked off in Las Vegas. Mulligan had no plans to attend the concert since this gig came to be at the last minute, but Mars made sure to change that.
“I didn’t even ask him for tickets. We were mainly just talking about life and stuff but he said something about the show,” Mulligan told The Blast. “I was like, ‘oh, my cousin really wanted to go but she wasn’t able to get tickets,’ and he said, ‘let me get you tickets.’”
To make this experience just a little more memorable, this concert was Mulligan’s first concert ever and the seats were on the floor a few rows from the stage.

For young models who loved seeing Mulligan succeed and have such an amazing story to tell, she shared some advice.
“Milk every single opportunity that you have and milk every aspect of your life that makes you you,” she said. “Invest into yourself and try to build whatever you can. And anything that you don’t like about yourself, change it or accept it. You have to love yourself so much before you get into an industry like this because there are going to be people that want to take you down. There are going to be people who want to take advantage of the opportunities you have. But there are also going to be people that really care for you and love you and want to support you and help you get to that goal that you want to reach.”
This experience has brought a lot of attention to Mulligan’s social media pages. She recently shared an inside look into her time in Vegas working with Mars. Follow her on Instagram to learn more about her story.
