Mandy Rose did not mention Ronda Rousey by name, but the former WWE star’s latest defense of OnlyFans lands months after Rousey sparked backlash by invoking another athlete’s account while criticizing UFC fighter pay.
Speaking exclusively to The Blast, Rose pushed back on the idea that athletes should be embarrassed for building businesses on subscription platforms, arguing that criticism often fades once people understand the money involved.
Her comments follow a September appearance on TMZ’s “Inside the Ring”, where she called OF business that “completely changed” her life financially.
Rose told The Blast that athletes should not have to justify finding new ways to monetize audiences they worked to build.
“I’m not speaking for anyone else, but I don’t think an athlete should have to defend herself for finding another way to earn money,” she said. “People praise you for building a fan base, then judge you when you build a business around it.”
She also stressed that creators decide what they share.
“What I share is my decision. My subscribers know what they’re signing up for, and I get to set the boundaries,” Rose explained. “That kind of control means a lot after spending so much of my career working within someone else’s rules.”
During her September 10 TMZ appearance, Rose similarly said, “What somebody does on there is completely their business” and criticized the “bad stigma” surrounding OnlyFans.
Mandy Rose’s comments arrive after Rousey drew criticism in March while attacking UFC fighter pay.
At the kickoff press conference for her comeback fight against Gina Carano, Rousey argued that underpayment was pushing fighters elsewhere for income and singled out UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
“It’s why their champions like Valentina are selling pictures of their titties on OnlyFans,” Rousey said, according to MMA Fighting.
Shevchenko fired back the next day, writing that fighters using OF in 2026 was “just a new way to connect with fans” before joking that Rousey had “slept too long after her last fight in 2016.”
There is no indication Rose was directly responding to Rousey. Still, her view is markedly different.
“I understand that OnlyFans isn’t for everybody,” Rose told The Blast. “But calling someone’s work embarrassing because you don’t like the platform says more about the judgment around it than it does about the person doing the work.”
Rose has never hidden how dramatically subscription content changed her finances.
On her “Power Alphas” podcast, she recalled being stunned by her FanTime earnings while still under contract with WWE.
“Within three months, I got my earnings check, and I was blown away because it was basically what I make in a year from WWE,” she said, per Fightful. “The bonus check alone was what I made as my WWE annual salary.”
FanTime later congratulated Rose for making $1 million in December 2022. The following year, she moved to OF with the message, “Same attraction, new website.”
Days later, Rose told TMZ Sports the move gave her “a lot of financial freedom” and was “life-changing.”
“People judge so much,” Rose told The Blast, “but until they see numbers, then they stop judging.”
Rose married former NFL safety and NXT wrestler Sabby Piscitelli, known as Tino Sabbatelli, in November 2024. The couple welcomed their first child this summer.
That new chapter has not changed how she views her business.
“Becoming a mom hasn’t changed my belief that women should be able to make their own choices about their careers,” Rose told The Blast. “I’m proud of the business I built, and I’m excited to decide what comes next for me.”
That could include professional wrestling again.
Rose recently said she would take a call from WWE, AEW or TNA, explaining that any discussion would have to involve “the Mandy Rose today” rather than the performer she was five years ago.
Rousey also resurfaced in wrestling this year, appearing at AEW Revolution in March before returning to MMA in May and submitting Gina Carano with an armbar in 17 seconds. She then retired again, saying she wanted more children.
Whether Rose and Rousey ever share a wrestling stage is uncertain, but Rose’s position is clear.
“At the end of the day, it’s a business,” she said on “Inside the Ring.”
