NBA legend LeBron James isn’t playing around with his name, image, and likeness. So much so that the 4x NBA champion has blasted a new AI sports betting app with a cease-and-desist for deceiving fans into believing that the former Los Angeles Lakers player is involved. And LeBron isn’t the only NBA player slapping this new company with legal papers. According to a new report, LeBron’s former teammate, Luka Doncic, also sent the company a cease-and-desist. This comes just weeks after the NBA season tipped off on October 20.

According to a new report from The New York Post, LeBron hopes to get an AI sports betting app, Bron AI, to stop using his likeness without permission. An attorney working with James told The Post that the letter came after the all-star saw an advertisement on Wednesday, November 4, showing a person meant to resemble LeBron flipping through the app. The look-alike actor was wearing a jersey with a No. 23 that also had the name “Bron” on it.

Adam Mendelsohn, one of LeBron’s longtime staff members, spoke with The Post about the company’s ad and slammed it for misleading consumers through shady business practices.

“It’s all about cheap clicks and aggregation,” he said. “A lot of pundits do it too. I’m sure their intent all along was for us to send a cease and desist in order to play the social media game. You would prefer not to respond but you don’t have a choice in a situation like this.”

LeBron wasn’t the only one featured in the Bron AI advertisement. According to The Post, several other NBA players were included, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Donovan Mitchell, Dillon Brooks, and Luka Doncic.

And speaking of Doncic, a cease-and-desist was also sent to Bron AI and its parent company, PlayVision Inc., after the ad was shared online.

LeBron James Recently Signed A Partnership With The World’s Largest Prediction Market

The cease-and-desist, filed on behalf of LeBron James, comes weeks after the superstar athlete faced backlash for signing a reported $15 million/year contract with the world’s largest prediction market, PolyMarket.

LeBron teased the collaboration in the summer of 2026, days after announcing his move to the Philadelphia 76ers for his 24th season.

And LeBron isn’t alone. Miami Heat star Antetokounmpo also signed a deal with Klashi, another prediction market that lets customers wager on real-world events, such as elections, sports, and weather.

LeBron’s decision to team up with PolyMarket rubbed some fans the wrong way, considering the NBA is currently engulfed in a gambling scandal that shook the league just last year.

“LeBron has gone too far,” one user said. “We know the pernicious effect gambling has on sports. It sullies the game and makes people wonder if what they’re watching is legit. I know he wants to be a billionaire, but lending your name to something that hurts the game you play isn’t smart. Or moral.”

James Signed A Two-Year Contract With The Philadelphia 76ers

According to a previous report from The Blast, LeBron signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.

He opened up about his decision on social media, calling it his “last decision” before retirement. His contract is worth $8 million, and the move could give the icon another ring before he steps off the hardwood for good. At least, that’s his goal.

“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time,” he said during NBA media day just weeks ago.

The 76ers are currently 8-1, with their only loss coming to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, October 25. LeBron drew flak from fans who believed his time in the league had ended after a brief shooting slump, but he appears to have turned things around, averaging 15.7 PPG and 7.4 RPG, according to ESPN. He also addressed the brief shooting rust with the media and said he was still “adjusting” to his new team. “But I think every day, every week, every month, I’ll continue to get better and better. My body will continue to ramp up, and the play will get better,” he said.
