He’s shared his thoughts on how the iconic motoring series should evolve without his presence, which has been like a comet—bright and commanding—for a remarkable 25 years. Since Andrew Flintoff’s unfortunate accident put the series on ice in 2022, whispers of new presenters have circulated, sparking excitement among petrolheads craving that familiar rev of engines. Are we ready for a shift that caters to the modern auto enthusiast while preserving that quirky charm we’ve grown to adore? LEARN MORE.

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed what he thinks a Top Gear reboot should look like without him.

The BBC motoring show has been off our screens since Andrew Flintoff was involved in a car accident in 2022.

Reports by The Sun, however, have suggested that bosses are eyeing up new presenters.

BBC bosses are keen to revive Top Gear because they have never filled the space it left behind and so many viewers hanker after a motoring show,” an insider claimed to the outlet.

“And it’s not just in Britain that the programme is much loved, it is a brand in its own right and watched by millions around the globe.

“Which is why it wasn’t just important to satisfy the needs of petrolheads, but also, specifically, fans of Top Gear. They’ll be thrilled to hear it is returning.”

Clarkson, who fronted show for some 25 years after leaving in 2015, has said to The Times that he wants a ‘ballsy’ revamp.

“It will work if they do it right. There is an opening for someone to review electrical cars because no one really understands them. I’m not going to watch it but there are lots of people who do want to know about all these Chinese cars because it’s all completely changing,” he said.

“They should do it as a consumer programme, which would be quite a ballsy thing to do because no one wants to go back to the Seventies. Like What Car magazine on television.”

One person said to be familiar with the plans told the outlet that bosses don’t want to have influencers presenting like with The Grand Tour’s replacements Thomas Holland and James Engelsman of YouTube car channel Throttle House, and trainspotter Francis Bourgeois.

“Expect to see three men again — with a combination of well-known faces and people with a strong following in the motoring world,” they said.

Top Gear attracts a male audience like nothing else does,” they said. “Even the repeats continue to perform really well on iPlayer.”

The BBC, meanwhile, told LADbible that there is ‘no update’ on the possibility of a reboot at this time.

“The Top Gear brand continues to thrive across digital, publishing, and global formats,” the spokesperson said.

“As a commercial producer, we’re always exploring new ways to develop the brand and reach audiences by leveraging such iconic IP – but there’s no update on the TV show at this time.”
