A Neptune transit to the angles of your chart is invariably life-changing. These transits put you into a liminal state, as the structure of your life dissolves. You go through some sort of fluid shift, during which time, you have an ethereal quality. You’re walking through a dream, unseen and unsure. This is not to say it’s painless!
If you could view the time period at an accelerated rate, you would see yourself dissolve into some new version of you. Living this is another matter. It takes several years, generally, during which time, losses stack up.
You may lose people during these transit; they fade away. But in many cases, you’re the one who fades away. You may move home, for example. You may change jobs or divorce. You may be 18 years old and leave home for college.
All of these things can be greatly destabilizing. Under a Neptune transit, they can be disorienting if not disabling. It’s very common to feel “at a loss”.
As for a real case history, I left my home state with Neptune transiting conjunct my ascendent, after voluntarily dissolving both my marriage and my job. Who am I? I had little idea. I went from being a super solid citizen to being more like a drifter.
I spent the better part of a year in one state, before deciding to move to a more populous state. I arrived there, exhausted and kept to myself for a number of months. In hindsight, I just didn’t want to be “on stage”. I don’t think I was depressed. It was more like I’d escaped one way of being and my new way of being was still forming? I knew astrology well, at the time. This was a great help.
I became friends with a low maintenance neighbor. He eventually coaxed into going out one night; friends this was. We went downtown in Denver and that was it. I re-entered life.
As part of this operation, I started going to astrology clubs. There was no internet at the time. I had studied astrology all my life, but only knew one person, other than my sister who knew any astrology. I stepped into these clubs with no idea who I was in relation to the people in the room. They couldn’t see me either, what with Neptune blurring.
So this is how it goes. You’re a bit of a ghost and perhaps dealing with a ghost as well. It took me roughly five years to settle.
If you’re having a Neptune transit to any of these points, I’d get used to walking around as a hologram of sorts. The fact is you’re disappearing as you appear. When I look back on the period, I just don’t see any other way it could have played. I simply had to give up control. I’m glad this only happens every 42 years, though!
