"Is Project Runway’s Bryan Bias the New King of Delulu? You Won’t Believe What He’s Up To!"

Added on August 17, 2026 inFree Entertainment News, Free TV News

What the hell is going on with Project Runway, right? It’s like watching a soap opera unfold in stitches! Every episode this season seems like a masterclass in frustration, and I’m left sitting here, scratching my head, thinking, “Did the universe just align for pure chaos in this competition?” Seriously, with the stars running amok, it’s hard not to feel that the cosmos is sending us signals—especially when it comes to the blatant favoritism shown to Bryan Barrientos.

Can we talk about that for a second? This guy is traipsing through the competition like he’s wearing a crown, but is anyone else wondering how he’s dodging elimination like a pro? Is it all a ploy for drama? I mean, why not throw in a little rivalry with Bi while we’re at it? But I digress! With designs that scream more “What Were You Thinking?” than “Haute Couture,” it just feels unfair to those who deserve a shot at the spotlight.

Stay with me as we dive into the confounding chaos of this season, where the stitching isn’t the only thing unraveling. I promise you, it’s going to be a bumpy ride—hold on tight! LEARN MORE

What is going on with Project Runway?

With each passing episode this season, it feels like new frustrations come to light or old ones are further exacerbated, leaving me constantly scratching my head and trying to figure out what the series is even doing anymore.

This time around, it’s the general frustration with what amounts to straight-up favoritism toward Bryan Barrientos.

Truly, not to yuck anyone’s yum here, but am I the only one trying to figure out how Bryan has lasted this long in the competition?

Is it entirely for the sake of needless “drama” with that weird rivalry with Bi? Because we could do without it!

Not only has he lasted longer than expected, but some of the judges seem to favor him despite weak designs, ill-suited ensembles for the theme of the week, or poorly constructed creations.

And for reasons that have eluded me, he never seems to get called out for any of these things, at least not by anyone who isn’t Law once every blue moon.

Not only has he not faced any proper criticism for work that truly deserves more than that, but it seems like the judges tend to hail him as a favorite to win the competition. When compared to other designers in the competition, it seems unfair.

Bryan has been coasting on favoritism and bias for weeks.

The truth of the matter is that he should’ve probably gone home around the time he created that dress that looked like the model was emerging from the cervix with an umbilical cord strangling her.

Most of Bryan’s designs haven’t improved by much since then. The Viva challenge was genuinely puzzling because the level of praise heaped upon him for a dress that very much did look like a bunch of lettuce was startling.

It also reminded me that pieces get far less scrutiny in Project Runway’s new format, since any acknowledgment of how Bryan’s dress was unraveling, tearing, and even had gaping holes in it was nonexistent.

Viva is a paper towel so strong that it virtually feels like clothing fabric.

We saw some of the best garments from that challenge via Bi, Naheim, Joseph, and others, yet Bryan’s garment came across as a costume from a high school Shakespeare play with holes in it, and it’s being hailed as the best thing imaginable.

Viewers and other designers have been very much aligned when it comes to Bryan and his pieces, which is why it’s so hard to watch the judges put him on this pedestal.

We can’t all be wrong about him, right?

But a surefire sign that the bias has gotten out of control was the Devil Wears Prada 2 challenge.

It was a two-fold challenge. The designers needed to create a red-carpet event piece and something specifically for Heidi. Some designers failed on one front or another.

(Disney/Spencer Pazer)

Jeffrey’s design, for example, was great, but it didn’t scream “red carpet,” and neither did Nahiem’s, while Joseph and Jude, for example, had pieces that didn’t suit Heidi specifically.

But Bryan? His piece didn’t suit the red carpet or Heidi, so I’m wondering: why did he win?

Bryan’s dress looked more like something a Real Housewife would wear to a beach party at Martha’s Vineyard. Do they do beach parties at Martha’s Vineyard? I’m poor, so I wouldn’t know.

It felt more like a swimsuit cover-up than a high-fashion piece that would debut on the red carpet for one of the most fashion-forward films of the past decade.

The dress also didn’t suit Heidi. Bryan didn’t create it with her in mind, and that was clear when you saw its silhouette suited someone who wasn’t busty.

(Disney/Spencer Pazer)

Technically, Bryan didn’t meet either criterion for the challenge. Still, presumably, because Law Roach is outspoken and has gotten on the other judges’ nerves, it felt like Bryan was picked to spite Law.

Except Law Roach was right. Period.

And all it took was for viewers to pull up what Heidi wore to the red carpet event, and, well, the criticisms weren’t kind.

She landed on multiple “worst dressed” lists because she chose Bryan to win a challenge he clearly failed, which was evident to anyone who watched and understood the challenge.

It would be comical if it weren’t so frustrating.

By the time we see photos of Heidi at the red carpet event, the dress appears to be something entirely different, which means it had to be completely reworked or a whole new dress was created altogether so that Heidi could wear it.

(Disney/Spencer Pazer)

So, how does that work? Again, why did Bryan win?

Heidi appeared in a piece that seemed to swallow her whole and resembled some really fun, beachy curtains or sheets at a resort.

Mumus are great and comfortable, but they aren’t exactly red carpet attire.

The problem is that anyone paying attention realized that Christian had to advise Bryan more on reworking his look, which likely would’ve been worse without Christian’s guidance. That has happened frequently now.

If Bryan often requires input from Christian to reshape his vision otherwise, he’d go down the wrong path, and he also tends to be one of the weakest when it comes to sewing (Bi’s line about 10 stitches slayed, and Jeffery has also commented on this before), then why is he still there?

(Disney/Spencer Pazer)

Why is he winning challenges, and more importantly, why is Project Runway making it seem like he’s the one to beat?

Hell, since we’re asking these questions, why does Joseph McRae constantly face criticism for being all the things that Bryan is actually exhibiting?

Bryan has been overconfident, bullheaded, rude, and mean-spirited to his peers, inconsistent, and a weak tailor to boot.

For all of his bragging and bluster about Bi working for HIM, it’s not reflecting as well on him as he believes.

As it stands, even if Bi was working for Bryan, it’s clear it’s because Bi is the stronger tailor with more vision; from where I’ve been sitting, Bi has been outperforming Bryan.

(Disney/Spencer Pazer)

Is it possible that they’ve been setting Bryan up for an epic fall? Because from the viewers’ perspective, Bryan’s work doesn’t support his smugness or the judges’ biased praise.

A win in the end would be an injustice, let alone a fast-track to landing on the “Worst-Dressed List,” I guess.
