Just as the stars align today, marking a cosmic opportunity for adventure and mischief, it seems like the perfect moment to dive into this wild narrative twist on love and crime. Curious about how they’re bringing this audacious story to life? You might want to sit down and LEARN MORE.

Who’s ready to get it on, freeze time, rob a bank, then take a dump in your boss’s office plant? What am I even talking about? You obviously haven’t read Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky’s Sex Criminals. As your attorney, I advise you to get on that right away, especially since Amazon’s found its leads for the upcoming adaptation! According to Deadline, Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later, I Kill Giants) and John Reynolds (Search Party, Stranger Things) are joining the Sex Criminals cast as Suze and Jon, the couple who, after getting their rocks off, escape to Cumworld, where time stops, and the fun gets even better.

What’s Sex Criminals about?

Officially announced in January, Sex Criminals is getting an eight-episode order. Here’s the official logline: “Suze (Poots) is a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets Jon (Reynolds)…who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex having, time stopping couple would do: they rob banks.”

Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, and Tze Chun are co-creators, showrunners, and executive producers, with Nanjiani also set to appear onscreen in an undisclosed role (I have a great idea as to who he could play). Gordon and Nanjiani are executive producing through Winter Coat Films along with Dani Melia. Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky — the creators of the comic book — will executive produce, as will Dani Gorin of LuckyChap. Louie Hayes of LuckyChap will produce.

Satisfying Statements!

In a statement back in January, Nanjiani and Gordon said, Sex Criminals is the exact kind of thing Winter Coat aims to bring to life: love stories in weird places,” said Gordon and Nanjiani. “From the moment LuckyChap brought us Matt and Chip’s comic book, we knew we wanted to bring these characters to screen and are so excited to do that alongside Tze Chun and Prime Video.”

Chun added, “I’ve been a fan of Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky’s Sex Criminals since the first issue hit the stands. This has been my dream project for over a decade, and co-creating this show with Emily and Kumail has been one of the creative highlights of my career. We are so excited to bring this series to life with our incredible partners at Lucky Chap and Prime Video.”

Not to be left out, Peter Friedlander, global head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, Sex Criminals is bold, hilarious, and wildly original, with a love story at its core that feels both deeply human and completely unexpected. Emily, Kumail, and Tze have brought a fresh, and emotionally grounded take to this incredible property. With our collaborators at LuckyChap, Winter Coat Films, and comic book creators Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, we’re thrilled to bring this unforgettable world and its characters to our global Prime Video audience.”

I’ve been a Sex Criminals fan since Day 1. It’s one of my favorite comic book series of all time, and this casting news is making my pants get tighter. Despite being announced in January, Sex Criminals has been in the works for years, with multiple attempts to adapt the source material falling by the wayside for one foolish reason or another. The fact that it’s finally happening is something worth sticking your hand down your pants about. Trust me. It’s gonna be a good time.
