LEARN MORE.
Dame Helen Mirren has made her feelings clear about her MobLand co-star Tom Hardy amid rumours he was fired from the show.
Hardy stars alongside Mirren and Pierce Brosnan in the hit Paramount+ show, which is gearing up for its third-season.
But last week, Puck News reported that Hardy wouldn’t be returning to his role.
The publication claimed he had been ‘fired’ from production over allegations that he was frequently late to set and difficult to work with.

The Hollywood Reporter then gave added further details, claiming a source had said Hardy had committed ‘career suicide’ by sitting around in his trailer for hours and leaving A-list co-stars Mirren and Bronsnan waiting around.
However, in another twist in the tale, just yesterday a report came out claiming that while there had been tensions on-set, the rumours about Hardy being fired weren’t true.
A source close to the production told Variety: “Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.”
The insider went on to say that director Guy Ritchie ‘likes working with Tom’ and was likely ‘pushing’ to make things work.
And it seems Mirren is keen to quash any rumours of tensions between her and Hardy.
Late on Thursday (28 May), the British star shared a snap of Hardy in costume as his MobLand character Harry Da Souza and captioned it: “Love you now and always, Helen.”
So that clears that up then.
This isn’t the first time Mirren has made a public display of support for Hardy.
Back in December, when rumours of a feud hit headlines, Mirren shared a photo of her co-star alongside some of her ‘likes and dislikes’.
She wrote: “Things I love: 1. Christmas for obvious reasons. 2. Tom Hardy for his brilliance onscreen, his dedication off screen, his good heart and especially the HardyHugs I get when onset with him which is not nearly enough in my opinion. Things I hate: 1. Swede (the vegetable). 2. Bad journalism.”
Stewart and Hardy worked together on 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis, in which Hardy played the villain Shinzon.
The X-Men star described Hardy as ‘an odd, solitary young man from London’ in his memoir Making It So, adding: “Tom wouldn’t engage with any of us on a social level. Never said, ‘Good morning,’ never said, ‘Goodnight,’ and spent the hours he wasn’t needed on set in his trailer with his girlfriend.”

Austin Butler and Tom Hardy co-starred in The Bikeriders (Focus Features)
Butler and Hardy starred alongside each other in 2023’s The Bikeriders.
Butler said: “I pictured him to be this grizzly bear, always serious. And really, he’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.
“He’d be joking around until action is called, and then go into being the most intense guy I’d ever seen.”
