White, a former first-round pick who had a very short-lived career in the NBA, posted a new photo of himself to his X account. In the photo, White is seen with a full beard and wearing dirty-blonde locks. “It came y’all… my first wig,” he wrote. “Tomorrow, I test it on the court. This is my feminine era glow up. Did I slay?”
White didn’t stop there. The Iowa State alum asked his followers to hype him up in the comments, and if they didn’t, he said they were “transphobic.” He added, “I really don’t understand all the hatred; I just want to play some hoops with my fellow ladies.”
White’s post has garnered much attention. At the time of this publication, the photo has over 3.4 million views and over 115,000 likes. A screenshot of the post was shared on the popular Instagram blog, The Neighborhood Talk, and sparked an even bigger conversation.
“Y’all not getting the point, and it’s unfortunate,” someone wrote, while another said, “He’s making a mockery out of this situation, and people are OK with this?”

According to a previous report from The Blast, White vowed to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft during a new interview and said he’s now part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“I’m transgender. I’m a woman… I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purposes of… professional basketball,” he said. “I think I’d be unstoppable. But I’m a team-first guy. I’m a pass-first kind of player. I do the little things. I led my team in all five major stat categories at Iowa State University, so I do a little bit of everything. I’ll do whatever the coach needs me to do. I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do.”

Enes Kanter, who played in the NBA for over a decade, also said he would declare for the draft in the coming months.
“If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required,” he said, “then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA.”
“I’m simply asking that the current rules be applied equally to everyone; the rules that represent the very values many WNBA players and coaches have publicly advocated for,” he added.
The discourse surrounding transgender athletes competing in women’s sports began after Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham told reporters that she was against the idea. It prompted backlash and support.
In a memo sent to teams around the league, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert will speak more about the league’s stance on the issue in the coming days.
“I know many of you have received questions in recent weeks regarding transgender athlete participation in women’s basketball, and I expect this topic will continue to receive significant attention,” the memo read. “I wanted to reach out to share how we are approaching these conversations at the league office and to thank those of you who have responded to questions from the media with thoughtfulness and professionalism.”
