Under the stars this week, with Venus twinkling just right, we see Megyn Kelly stepping into the spotlight once more, but not without igniting a fiery debate about credibility and hypocrisy! The former Fox News host has taken a bold stance on the controversial Cornell 7 case—deconstructing Jane Doe’s allegations and the curious timing of her report to authorities. Now, hold onto your horoscopes, because in true celestial fashion, her remarks have not only ruffled feathers but have also drawn accusations of double standards—especially given her own past surrounding the Roger Ailes scandal. I mean, does anyone else find it ironic that while she’s questioning Jane Doe’s timing, she waited a decade herself before airing her own grievances? Buckle up, this conversation isn’t just about the stars but about how we navigate the complicated constellations of justice and public opinion.

Journalist and political commentator Megyn Kelly has been extensively covering the Cornell 7 case after Jane Doe filed a civil lawsuit over the alleged gang rape that occurred on October 20, 2024, at the Chi Phi fraternity house.

Kelly has largely defended the seven men accused, at one point stating that their “disgusting texts and inappropriate threesomes” do not mean they are rapists.

In an episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” she raised questions about how long it took for Jane Doe to report her assault. Records indicate that the victim notified Cornell University Police on November 8, three weeks after the alleged gang rape.

“If you were violently gang raped repeatedly over the course of an evening, do you think it would take you three weeks to call the campus police?” Kelly said.

Megyn Kelly has been outspoken about the Cornell 7 case, questioning parts of Jane Doe’s allegations and how the case has been handled. One particular comment has drawn online criticism, with some users accusing the former Fox News host of being a hypocrite and pointing to her past experience with allegations of sexual misconduct involving her former boss, Roger Ailes.

Kelly also questioned why Jane Doe chose to report to campus police instead of Ithaca authorities. “The delay, the chatting with friends, and then the decision to go,” she said.

Some took issue with Kelly’s comments about the timing of Jane Doe’s report, pointing to the journalist’s own account of waiting several years before publicly disclosing the alleged sexual advances she experienced from her former boss, Roger Ailes.

In 2016, former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes, the chairman and CEO of Fox News Channel from 1996 until his resignation in 2016. Several women later came forward with accusations, including Kelly.

Kelly alleged that Ailes attempted to kiss her thrice, and she rejected his advances. She reported the incident to her supervisor but was told the executive was just “smitten” with her and was advised to avoid him.

Megyn Kelly Said Coming Forward Would Have Been A ‘Suicide Mission’

Kelly wrote about the incident in her memoir, “Settle for More,” saying she was about a year into working for Fox News when it happened. At that time, she said it would have been a “suicide mission” for her career if she accused Ailes publicly, per ABC News.

Despite the incident, she noted that they had “nine years of a healthy working relationship” afterward.

Now, she is being called out for her “hypocrisy,” with people saying that she, too, waited before taking her accusations public.

Content creator and social activist Matt Bernstein (@mattxiv) posted about it on his Instagram, noting that Kelly “knows as well as anyone” why survivors don’t immediately come forward with their allegations.

“The blatant hypocrisy, I can’t,” one commenter wrote, adding a clown emoji.

The Journalist Targeted Jane Doe’s Appearance

In another episode of her show, Kelly expressed concern due to the public’s rush to judgment, arguing that people are demanding severe consequences for the Cornell 7 without waiting for the result of proper due process.

In the October 5 episode, she attacked Jane Doe’s physical appearance while pointing out that the incident may have been consensual.

The journalist said Jane Doe may have relished the attention she got because “she’s not the most attractive gal.”

“She’s extremely beefy in her arms and her legs. She has a whole video online talking about her cankles… She’s probably thrilled to be so admired because she clearly didn’t grow up the incredibly beautiful one,” Kelly said, referring to unverified images and videos circulating online of the alleged Jane Doe.

Megyn Kelly Took Aim At Olivia Rodrigo

A few public figures have spoken out about the Cornell 7 case, including Florence Pugh, Josh Gad, and Mariska Hargitay. On October 4, Olivia Rodrigo condemned Cornell University and stated she stands in solidarity with Jane Doe.

Kelly went off on Rodrigo in her show, saying that her statements prove she’s an “idiot.”

“Shut up and stick to singing,” Kelly said, adding that she liked her better when she was “in front of a microphone singing your weird depressing songs.”

“We don’t need the participation of know-nothing morons who have been auto-tuned into fame and suddenly think they have something to say on the culture wars,” Kelly added.
