During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! hosted by Nashville native Jelly Roll, Juicy J and Project Pat reflected on a letter Parton sent the group after beating her at the 2006 Oscars.
Dolly and Three 6 were both up for Best Original Song; the former for “Travelin’ Thru” from Transamerica and the latter for “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” from Hustle & Flow. The Memphis legends became the first hip-hop group to win an Academy Award (and to perform at the event). The country icon cheered for them in the award ceremony’s crowd.
