"Cosmic Rollercoaster: October 5-9, 2026 – Brace Yourself for Surprising Twists and Celestial Cliffhangers!"

Added on October 4, 2026 inFREE ASTROLOGY

As we sail through this week—a cosmic prelude to Saturday’s new moon in Libra—one can’t help but wonder: Are we ready to create something that’s truly worth our time and energy? With Venus, the ruler of Libra, in retrograde and squaring off with Mars in sunny Leo, the universe is hinting that it might be time for a little introspection on our desires, aesthetics, love lives, and finances. We’re not just looking at these aspects superficially; we’re diving deep to really decipher what we want from life and from each other. It’s like that moment in a rom-com where the protagonist has that epiphany before the big climax—are you gearing up for your own “aha!” moment? So, dust off those dreamy plans and commitments, and prepare to adjust the sails as the universe offers us unexpected chances to embrace balance and possibility. If you’re looking for inspiration before that new moon, you’re in the right place! LEARN MORE.

All week we build toward Saturday’s new moon in Libra, and Libra-ruler Venus (retrograde) in Scorpio heads back to square Mars in Sun-ruled Leo. If we’re going to start something balanced and beneficial at our cardinal new moon, we ought to make sure that it’s something worth doing, right?

Venus retro square direct Mars presents a general condition where we’re working with desire, aesthetic, love, and money — but they’re presenting in a different way, or we’re encountering them differently. We evaluate them internally rather than receive them at face value. Direct and sunny Mars tries that story on for size.

Scorpio Venus crosses over direct Mercury Tuesday night, while Mars sextiles retro Uranus in Mercury-ruled Gemini through Wednesday morning. So Monday and Tuesday, we explore desires and values mentally and through dialogue while at the same time we’re sparked to try something new. Maybe a few new things. If we’re moved to experiment, it does double duty in figuring out where we will invest as well as actually generating the leads we need to take us there.

Take chances, be generous: When something pops out of nowhere, run toward it and see if it’s for you. Whether it is or it isn’t, the running to is likely to generate some great new options. Unexpected, something you didn’t prepare for but is likely relevant to your internal dilemma. Helping is good too. We tend to attract situations that mirror some aspect of our own.

Additionally, Leo Mars spends the week moving into trine with retro Saturn in Mars-ruled Aries, fire to fire. Action, movement, working — we’re working something out when we commit to the plot and follow through. Work on that knot by literally moving your body. Inspect your level of commitment internally, both physically and metaphorically. Can you do this? How does your body fare? Making adjustments makes sense, so fine tune your movements as well as your duties and responsibilities.

Monday’s Leo Moon squares Venus and trines retro Saturn. It then goes on to conjoin Jupiter overnight. Needs versus wants is the subject matter (as Venus approaches Mercury) and our emotional investment is solid. It’s a “this too shall pass” sort of moment — but not the kind where someone else is lecturing you. Shore YOURSELF up. Then nighttime supplies the fuel via hope and the feeling of a higher calling. Internal drama can feel good!

Tuesday morning, the Leo Moon perfects its Jupiter conjunction, and it’s a higher octave of feeling good about yourself. If you’re NOT feeling good about yourself, that will be emphasized as well. So if it doesn’t feel good, take note. What would need to change for you to wake up and get going singing? By evening, the Moon crosses the south node as it trines retro Chiron in Aries. We instinctively explore how to get back on track. The Moon then heads to earthy Virgo for a good night’s sleep (fingers crossed!).

On Wednesday, the Virgo Moon squares retro Uranus as Mars perfects its Uranus sextile. Just because something feels clunky, doesn’t mean that it is. Shake it out. Shake your groove thing! The Moon quickly moves into sextile to retro Venus and Mercury in Scorpio, so get back into your groove mentally too and milk it. Later, the Moon semi-sextiles the Libra Sun — a mild warming of the mood. But given their impending union (and their rulers), it’s a soft kiss that matters.

Thursday’s Virgo Moon makes no major aspects through the majority of the day, but it does trine Juno and quincunx Chiron at the very end. A daylong contemplative mood can be of practical help in letting it all sink in; and passion pushes us over the winning finish line at the end if we’re willing to learn and let go of a grudge.

Friday morning, the Moon moves to Venus-ruled Libra. It opposes retro Neptune, trines retro Pluto, trines retro Uranus, then sextiles Mars. This calls up echos of that last full moon’s kite: something’s lost, but something’s gained… what was it? Watch for an actionable step that takes us in the direction of our next commitment. Friday night’s Libra Moon opposes retro Saturn. The next one is coming in, but it may be something you’ve considered before.

Saturday’s new moon will take place at 17 Libra, but we’ve got some options to investigate and propagate beforehand. Are your options changing? Have you checked?

Short, sharp shock can be a trauma, but my personal reference is from a Pink Floyd song. It’s from the recorded patter of a roadie on Us and Them from Dark Side of the Moon. He’s talking about getting out in front of the action to avert disaster — against a dreamy, rock background. As a kid, I didn’t know what it meant, but I loved how it felt. It lived in my mind, and sometimes it popped out like motivation. That’s how this Mars-Uranus moment of opportunity presents. When it floats by on the wind, grab it; get in there.
