We already know that the brakes were put on the Hulu reality series earlier this year after just five episodes were filmed.
The headlines were, quite frankly, absurd.
It was like a never-ending news cycle with Taylor Frankie Paul at the helm, thanks in large part to her season of The Bachelorette getting canceled days before it was supposed to air.
The cancellation was a rare moment when a media company seemed to put ethics ahead of profits, because there was a good chance the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives crossover would have lifted the ABC dating series to its best numbers in years.
Wherever Taylor goes, drama follows, and The Bachelorette producers clearly thought they had found someone who could reinvigorate the franchise.
Sadly, she may have been the death knell for it.
My best guess is that network executives are now mulling the reaction to Taylor on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 to assess whether the lost season should even air.
The most uncomfortable thing about the trailer is that we’re going to have to relive all of this again, including the back-and-forth between Taylor and Dakota that spread like wildfire across the news cycle.
Taylor is in tears throughout the footage, and judging by her castmates’ reactions to her on- and off-screen, this really could be the end of the reality TV hit as we know it.
Producers have been vocal about Taylor always having a place on the series, but after everything that’s transpired, it’s difficult to watch this footage the same way.
Yes, it’s going to serve up answers galore, but at what point is it all too much?
You can see from the trailer that this is the most vulnerable Taylor has ever been, and since Dakota is still part of these first episodes, he’s still causing problems for her.

If I had my way, these episodes would never have seen the light of day, and the show should have picked up after a significant time jump.
It feels icky to platform certain people after everything that’s transpired.
We don’t even know whether these five episodes represent the end of Taylor’s journey with the show, but something needs to shift.
Away from the Taylor and Dakota situation, there still seem to be plenty of dramatic storylines, particularly between Jenn Affleck and Whitney Leavitt.
This is Leavitt’s final season with the series. She’s gone on to bigger and better things and is above the drama that comes with being the target of MomTok.
Jenn seems to want an apology from Whitney in the trailer, which is a bit rich considering The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4 showcased Whitney doing nothing to her rival.
There’s also the breakdown of Jessi Draper and Jordan Ngatikaura’s marriage, which looks poised to deliver on the drama front.
Admittedly, I usually get very excited about the return of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but I can’t shake the feeling that these episodes should be treated as lost media.
