I’m home from surgery and just checking in. Saturn is transiting my natal Mercury and Mars. Mars in Cancer is opposing my Capricorn. Many would not have surgery under these transits, but they seemed appropriate to me. Cut (Mars) to the bone (Saturn), nerves and walking (Mercury). I did not consider “delay”, which is my own failing.
I was lying in the pre-surgery “holding pen”. My husband calls it a “party no one’s happy to be at”. “They could at least put a lava lamp in there,” he said. We anticipated a long surgery so I had sent him home. Later, my surgeon popped in to say there was an issue. He also said he may have to do the surgery at another time as there were a lot of moving parts. He looked stressed.
Hearing this, I asked a nurse to call my husband back on the chance my surgery be called off. She caught him and he turned back. After that, we all waited for word. Surgery late? Going home? Would he do one surgery today and the follow-up the next day?
In the end he opted to do what he planned. They rolled me into the OR at 12:30 pm (rather than the original 9 am). I did not get to my room until 9:30 pm! However, this is irrelevant, because my surgeon did it again! He fixed my back.
I have not yet heard what happened in surgery, but I did get a message to my surgeon and his PA, “Tell them I’m doing great!”
This was a very difficult surgery. I know this because he moved my spine a dramatic distance. I’m hoping he’s set me up for life.
