After last night’s game against the Portland Fire, Reese plopped her name in the history book as the fastest player to reach 900 rebounds in the league’s history. Just days before, Reese set another record as the fastest player in league history to record 950 points and 850 rebounds. So, what’s next for the Atlanta Dream standout?
Reese showed up and showed out last night against the Portland Fire. The 2x All-Star recorded 18 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. She led the Atlanta Dream in scoring, helping her team win 86-66 on the road.
Reese earned her fourth double-double of the season last night. Additionally, she recorded her 900th rebound, making her the fastest player in league history to reach the feat in just 71 games.
“Rebounds are something that I can always rely on, no matter how the game is going,” the 24-year-old said in the post-game conference. “I knew tonight that I was gonna get a lot of offensive rebounds, and I think last game I didn’t do a great job getting offensive rebounds or even defensive rebounds.”
She added, “I wanted to take pride in that tonight and going in there and getting those extra second-chance points, but also opportunities to my teammates to kick out on the three.”
For those who weren’t able to catch last night’s game, the Dream came out of the gate swinging against the Portland Fire. In addition to Reese’s performance, other Atlanta players showed up ready to play.
Rhyne Howard scored 14 points and had six steals, Naz Hillmon had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Allisha Gray finished the night with 13 points and three rebounds.
Despite the 20-point blowout, the Fire were neck-and-neck with the Dream during the first three quarters, thanks to Sarah Ashlee Barker, Megan Gustafon, Carla Leite, and Emily Engstler.
Their efforts weren’t enough, though, as the Dream started the fourth quarter strong, going on a 9-0 run and quieting the crowd.
Reese’s rebounding prowess is just one of the skills that make the former LSU standout so impressive.
She joked about her double-double streaks in the past, saying, “I don’t even know how … the basketball gods keep blessing me.”

In April 2026, the Sky’s general manager broke his silence on trading her to Atlanta, saying it was a move designed to balance out the roster.
“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky. We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond,” he added, per The Blast.
When Reese spoke about her trade, she thanked the city of Chicago for showing her love before revealing what her goals were for her third season.
“I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream,” Reese stated.
In a separate interview, the Dream’s general manager, Dan Padover, said acquiring Reese when she became available was a “no-brainer” for their organization.
And he wasn’t the only one who felt that way. NBA legend Carmelo Anthony shared a similar statement on his podcast, “7PM in Brooklyn.”
“Angel was getting too big, as far as her brand, for the organization in a sense,” he said, adding that her joining Atlanta was the right move for everyone involved.
“Her level of play is going to rise with the level of competition and what you surrounded with,” he continued. “If you’re surrounded with people who not thinking like you and don’t have the competitive nature you have, that sh-t can be draining. So, now you’re going to a team who has championsip aspirations.”
