The trio of Harry Potter actors who starred in the iconic films made a veritable fortune off the back of the films, earning a combined $200+ million.
Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and the Harry actor himself Daniel Radcliffe started off on salaries that many non-11-year-olds would be jealous of, with Radcliffe earning $1 million and Grint and Watson making $125,000 each.
Though you’d be hard pressed to find any other 11-year-olds not called Macaulay Culkin making that much money, it was well earned considering they are the leads of the first film and it went on to make a whopping $974,755,371, exceeding $1 billion when you include subsequent re-releases.
The actors made more with every movie, leading to Radcliffe making $50 million for the last pair of films, whilst Grint and Watson made between $15 million and $30 million depending on which reports you ask.
The trio were between 20 and 21 when they finished the films and had made enough money to essentially never have to work again, but even despite that they have continued working in Hollywood, even starring in massive movies. Here, however, is what they used their earnings on from the Harry Potter films.

Daniel Radcliffe’s filmography since Harry Potter screams ‘I don’t have to work again’, ranging from playing a farting corpse to a man who wakes up to find guns surgically attached to his hands.
When asked as a kid what he would spend his money on he was very honest, saying he ‘didn’t have any idea’. Since then he has purchased multiple homes across London and New York, but ultimately admitted he doesn’t do much with it telling The Mirror: “I don’t really do anything with my money.
“I’m very grateful for it, because having money means you don’t have to worry about it, which is a very lovely freedom to have. It also gives me immense freedom career-wise.”
His money is managed by a holding company his parents set up when he was a kid called Gilmore Jacobs Limited which reported $99,045,232 in equity in their latest filing. Radcliffe is also a donor to philanthropic causes such as The Trevor Project.

Rupert Grint had a similar response to Radcliffe when asked as a kid about what he would use his wealth on, jokingly branding it ‘muggle money’ saying he ‘didn’t really understand it’.
His major purchases range quite a lot in practicality, however. He has a property empire and investment company which keeps the money he made off the movie ticking, but his other major purchase made headlines: an ice cream truck.
Speaking about this with The Daily Mail he said: “My first ambition was to become an ice cream man, which is why I bought the Bedford van.
“Not long after I first got it, I pulled into a pub to do a U-turn and there were eight kids with their pocket money out, hoping to buy a 99 or whatever. But I had nothing to give them. I’ve learnt my lesson since then.”
“I keep my van well stocked. It’s got a proper machine that dispenses Mr Whippy ice cream and I buy my lollies wholesale – 50 for a tenner – so I never run short.”
Add to that a hovercraft and a swan-shaped pedalo, and Grint has used his money just about how anyone else who came into millions as a teenager.

Watson’s response as a child foreshadowed that she was arguably the least exciting of the three in terms of how she used her money, saying as a kid: “Erm, I’m afraid I’m really gonna bore all of you, but I’m afraid I’m gonna stick it in a bank until I’m 21.”
Watson shared in an interview with British Vogue that she discovered at 18 how much she was worth in a sit down with her dad which she said left her ‘sick’ and ‘emotional’.
The actor has had the most acting success of any of the trio post-Harry Potter, also appearing in Little Women and Beauty and the Beast which will have grown her wealth. She has not spoken much about what she spends her wealth on but was revealed to have set up an off-shore investment company in the Panama Papers.
A spokesperson for Watson said: “Emma (like many high-profile individuals) set up an offshore company for the sole purpose of protecting her anonymity and safety.
“UK companies are required to publicly publish details of their shareholders and therefore do not give her the necessary anonymity required to protect her personal safety.
“Emma receives absolutely no tax or monetary advantages from this offshore company whatsoever—only privacy.”
In addition to that she donates to charitable causes and owns several properties.
