The latest development in the James Bond casting conversation comes amid claims that Josh O’Connor may have already secured the coveted role.

One of the actor’s co-stars from the stage production “Golden Boy” allegedly disclosed the news during a night out at The French House, a pub in London’s Soho, according to The Sun.

The source claimed they encountered the cast member and began chatting when the conversation reportedly took an unexpected turn after a few drinks. Recalling the encounter, the source told the publication: “Out of nowhere, and oiled by a few glasses of lager, they blurted out that Josh was the next James Bond.”

Although the informant argued it was pure speculation, O’Connor’s co-star allegedly explained, saying, “He had confided in them about getting the role when the cast of Golden Boy had celebratory drinks after the play finished its run on Halloween.”

Even as the alleged pub conversation has intensified speculation, O’Connor had already addressed the possibility of becoming the next 007 earlier in the week.

In an interview with the BBC, “The Crown” actor responded to reports linking him to the iconic British spy character, describing the attention as an unusual but flattering experience.

Rather than confirming or denying that he had been selected, O’Connor acknowledged that being considered alongside other actors was difficult to take in.

“To be considered in that same sort of bracket is extraordinary,” he said, adding that it was an “incredibly bizarre pinch-me moment” to have his name mentioned in connection with such a celebrated role.

He also made it clear that he had little to say about the speculation, explaining that there was nothing further to share.

While O’Connor is at the center of the latest casting rumor, another former Bond actor has made his preference known.

According to The Blast, Brosnan seemingly praised Callum Turner as a potential successor to Craig, offering a particularly encouraging assessment of the actor’s abilities.

Although he acknowledged the talent of the actors reportedly in contention, he singled out Turner, with whom he previously worked in the 2017 film “The Only Living Boy in New York.”

“Callum is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong,” Brosnan said.

The former 007 also expressed enthusiasm about the future of the franchise under director Denis Villeneuve, who is attached to helm the next installment. He believes audiences will be impressed by the filmmaker’s approach to the long-running series.

Callum Turner is not the only contender receiving attention from former Bond stars and industry insiders. Jack Lowden has also been repeatedly linked to the role, with speculation gaining momentum after comments from his “Slow Horses” co-star Gary Oldman.

Oldman previously suggested that producers may have already made their choice, saying he had his fingers crossed that Lowden would be selected. His remarks naturally brought more attention to the Scottish actor, who has since addressed the growing conversation.

Lowden described the speculation as flattering but made it clear that he was not interested in adding to the growing noise.

“On this… it’s all very flattering. It’s nice to be mentioned – for any role – and I’m just not really going to add to the noise,” he said.

George Clooney Has Already Revealed Who He Wants As The Next James Bond

Although O’Connor’s alleged casting revelation has given the race a new talking point, George Clooney had previously shared his preferred choice months before the latest reports emerged.

The “Ocean’s Eleven” actor threw his support behind Turner, praising the actor’s qualities and explaining why he believes he would suit the role.

“I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond. I think he would be a great Bond,” Clooney said, per The Blast.

He went on to describe the qualities he believes make Turner suitable for the role, saying, “He’s tall and handsome and charming and British, so he’s the perfect guy to do it.”

Clooney also praised Turner’s career choices, noting that the actor had pursued interesting projects rather than simply chasing easy paychecks. He suggested that Turner had managed to establish himself without becoming caught up in unnecessary Hollywood distractions.
