JK Rowling has seemingly responded to the comments made this week by Emma Watson regarding their falling out.

The actor spoke for the first time about JK Rowling, who had previously stated that Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Watson could ‘save their apologies’ after the child stars showed their support of the transgender community.

Watson previously began the charge in 2020 when she tweeted: “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.”

Radcliffe posted a statement via the Trevor Project, and Grint said that he ‘firmly stands with the trans community’.

Rowling, however, was not on board and had hit out at all of them after the publication of the Cass Report, which reviewed the NHS gender identity services provided to young people in the UK.

Rowling scathed at the time: “Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies.”

Since then, it seems like Rowling was not on speaking terms with any of the trio and has been very vocal about her opposition to transgender rights.

But on the latest episode of the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast, Watson finally addressed the relationship between her and the author.

She explained that she would continue to ‘cherish’ her experiences with the writer, despite their falling out.

“I really don’t believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can’t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,” Watson said.

“I will never believe that one negates the other, and that my experience of that person I don’t get to keep and cherish. I just don’t think these things are either/or. I think it’s my deepest wish that I hope people who don’t agree with my opinion will love me, and I hope I can keep loving people who I don’t necessarily share the same opinion with.”

Watson continued that ‘the thing I’m most upset about is that a conversation was never made possible’.

But Rowling has seemingly responded by retweeting a satirist called Intel Lady, who seems to be mocking Watson and suggesting she’s schmoozing up to Rowling for more work.

“When it comes to my relationship with Jo, obviously I will never forget the opportunity that she gave me. She saw something so, so special in me [and] she knew she had to bring me into her creative vision,” she said in the video.

She added: “I will forever be grateful. She changed the entire trajectory of my life and I’ll never forget that […] But also I stand shoulder to shoulder with those who wish harm on her, hate her, and would wish the absolute worst for her in her life.

“Those seemingly incompatible two [views] can exist at the same time, which is why I love this incredibly diverse world that we live in.”

She went on to say that because Rowling was writing new material, Watson was trying to patch things up, stating in the video: “My agent hasn’t called me again in a while, so I don’t know if that will be possible.”

Rowling reposted the video on her Twitter account, stating she’s ‘here for ALL the spoofs’.
