Erika Kirk is facing renewed scrutiny after claiming she had to bail on her scheduled appearance at a TPUSA event alongside Vice President J.D. Vance due to security concerns.
The event, which was held at the Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia, has been the subject of debate due to the widow’s remarks, with Candace Owens, a close friend of her late husband, Charlie Kirk, calling her out and accusing her of actually skipping the event over “bad ticket sales.”
Now, secret service sources have raised further concern after revealing that “no credible threats” were found before Erika Kirk ditched the Turning Point speaking event.

After building major hype over her TPUSA event with Vice President Vance, Erika shocked many when she dropped out of the event, citing security concerns.
At the time, she made a statement, highlighting how much she really wanted to be at the event but couldn’t due to alleged threats to her life.
“I was so looking forward to tonight’s event at the @universityofga with our Vice President @JDVance, but after all our family has been through, I take my security team’s recommendations extremely seriously,” the mother of two tweeted on Tuesday. “Thank you to our amazing Georgia chapter for your support. God bless you all!”
Turning Point executive, Andrew Kolvet, also noted that at the time, there were “some very serious threats in her direction.”
However, the Secret Service, in charge of protecting the vice president, seems to have denied such claims of a threat against Erika, with a source cited by CBS News noting that there weren’t “specific or credible threats tied to the venue or to Vance.”

The CBS source revealed that the venue for the speaking event was “secure” with no “known threats to the protectee” despite Erika’s claims.
They added that while the TPUSA CEO may have been targeted with “hostile or threatening messages,” such messages were not part of any actionable threat stream being tracked by federal authorities.
The vice president himself said that he feared the event would be canceled altogether before speaking with the Secret Service.
“I talked to the Secret Service, and obviously, these guys do a very good job. And I said, ‘You know what? Let’s let Erika do what she needs to do for herself and her family,” Vance shared.

With Erika catching heat over her security claims, Turning Point USA released an official statement on the matter of her security, shedding light on the reason why they worried about her in particular.
“Threats related to Erika Kirk’s travel outside the secured perimeter led our team to make the difficult decision to withdraw her participation,” the organization stated.
They continued, “Our security team continuously assesses security considerations, and this was the right call in the interest of her safety. We are grateful to law enforcement and the U.S. Secret Service for ensuring a safe event.”

One of Erika’s biggest critics since she took over her husband’s role as CEO of TPUSA has been the late right-wing activist’s close pal, Candace Owens, and she didn’t hold back again after the widow shared her reasons for skipping the recent event.
Taking to social media, Owens slammed Erika, claiming her reasons had nothing to do with security and more to do with the event’s inability to draw a large crowd of attendees.
She wrote, “Stop. This is exhausting. You pulled out because of bad ticket sales. For the same reason, TPFaith had to ‘reschedule’ the Pastor’s Summit and various other events quietly.”
Owens added, “People don’t believe you and don’t line up for you because you struggle to tell the truth about even the most basic facts.”
The YouTuber’s comments immediately went viral, leading several to scrutinize Erika’s claims, especially with videos from the event hitting the internet revealing a low turnout at the stadium, despite Vance’s presence.
Erika has yet to address Owens’ comments.

Since her husband’s passing, Erika has faced harsh scrutiny over her grieving process, with critics accusing the widow of not mourning his death properly and some questioning her multiple public outings and events since the shocking assassination of Charlie.
During his appearance at the Turning Point USA event in Athens, Georgia, the vice president used the opportunity to defend Erika, claiming that her detractors are “full of sh-t.”
“She’s trying to make sure that Charlie’s legacy doesn’t die,” Vance claimed per reports, adding that “everybody is attacking her over everything, and they’re lying about her. It’s one of the most disgraceful things I have ever seen in public life.”
He continued, “I was there with her, I was holding her hand, my wife was hugging her while we loaded Charlie’s body onto Air Force 2 and said the Lord’s prayer. The people telling you that Erika wasn’t grieving her husband are full of sh-t, and we need to be honest about that.”
