Mercury Retrograde Got Your Love Life Messed Up? What If It’s Actually Scheming in Your Favor This Weekend?

Added on July 18, 2025 inASTROLOGY CARDS

Ever feel like life’s a wild obstacle course — and the universe just turned up the difficulty level for kicks? Well, Friday night kicks off with a Venus-ruled Taurus Moon cozying up in sextile to Jupiter in Cancer, giving us this sweet cosmic juice to make the best call amid a square dance of Venus in Gemini clashing with Mars in Virgo. It’s like trying to paddle a tiny boat through a blizzard without a lifejacket— thrilling, a bit scary, and yeah, absolutely maddening. But here’s the kicker: Mercury’s retrograde in fiery Leo keeps tossing curveballs, pushing us to rethink, reboot, and maybe even laugh at the chaos. So, buckle up, keep your eyes on the horizon, and ask yourself — are you steering toward something better, or just stirring the storm? Ready to glide fast and turn on a dime when life demands it? Let’s dive in. LEARN MORE.

Friday night’s Venus-ruled Taurus Moon starts out in sextile to Jupiter in Cancer, and the amped up mood sends just the right joy-juice to activate best judgement in response to the obstacle course energy of the Venus-Mars square. That’s a mouthful, and a handful.

Venus in Gemini squares Mars in Virgo all weekend. Both are in Mercury-ruled signs, and Mercury is retrograde in Sun-ruled Leo. The Sun in Cancer perfects its square to Aries Chiron early Saturday morning, then heads into sextile with Uranus at zero Gemini all weekend long.

Let me roll up my sleeves and boil this down: Think on your feet; act on what’s best for you; keep your eyes on where you’re going, not where you’ve been. Is it scary or thrilling? It’s both. It’s a learning curve. Mars conjoins the Moon’s south node, so we’re taking what we already know, what we have muscle memory of, and we’re making it work to improve how we feel about ourselves.

So Friday night, hang loose. To quote Booger in Better Off Dead on how to ski: “Go that way really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.” It’s fun! Here’s where I pat you on the back and give you a shove. Friday night, we’re just getting going, and Moon-Jupiter is the best possible jumping off point.

The obstacle course stretches out through the weekend, but getting started is the roughest part. If you crash, pick yourself up, figure out what you hit, then redirect your efforts. The rest of the weekend is CAKE. Oh it’s still the same, tough course, but the mood slicks the skids, and you’re already in motion (most of the battle).

Here’s another eighties reference: Sometimes the only winning move is not to play. Always have that in your toolkit.

Saturday night, the Sun moves into sextile with Gemini Uranus, and the Taurus Moon moves into sextile with the Sun. Do you want something better or do you just want something different? Are you itching for chaos, or are you willing to ride through chaos to reach a better land? Which one do you think ultimately satisfies? Mercury is retrograde, and you’ll get a chance to rethink the conditions that led you to make certain choices, as well as the choices you’ve made.

Walk yourself through it, mentally or physically. How do you feel? Which way do you lean? Follow what makes you feel more alive. Who are you doing this life for? Is it you? I hope so. Now think about this again: “Go that way really fast…” Does it sound fun? It is fun. Look for the fun way down the hill (that’s a metaphor, it could also be a chess board). Even if you fall it can be fun. You get another chance. Try to use as many as you can, as many as feels right. Cut yourself some slack; it’s a learning curve.

Sunday morning, the Moon hits Gemini and a conjunction to Uranus. It also sextiles retro Saturn-Neptune and trines retro Pluto. Have you got your rhythm going? It seems counterintuitive to change it up, right? So maybe you add to it, add a level of difficulty or intensity. This is how you improve: Take what works, lock in to the flow, then exercise your power move.

With Mercury retrograde in Leo influencing so much of the narrative in play, expect constant redirects. They are not challenges to your ego unless you choose to take them that way. It’s okay to rise above and act like you’re right where you should be, making the decisions you need to make… because you are.

Do you have any weekend plans?
