Divorce can often feel like a cosmic collision – think Mercury in retrograde meets an emotional black hole. And in the high-profile split of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the gravitational pull seems to favor mom, as their kids appear to be aligning more with her. Despite finally reaching a resolution in December 2024 after a prolonged and dramatic eight-year legal saga, the fallout has left plenty of astrological quirks to uncover. As the couple tussles over their million-dollar winery and faces disturbing allegations, their children’s decisions, like Shiloh, Zahara, Maddox, and now Vivienne choosing to drop their father’s last name, seem to echo a collective desire for autonomy and support for their mother. Amid an emotional landscape dotted with intense feelings and tumultuous transitions, it begs the question: can we truly blame them for wanting to distance themselves from the chaos? For those curious about the latest developments in this star-studded saga, you can LEARN MORE.

Divorces can always be messy and it seems clear that in the case of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the kids seem to want to stay with their mother.

Although the celebrity couple were finally able to reach a divorce agreement in December 2024 following an eight year legal battle, there has been a significant fallout and the legalities are far from over.

As mum and dad continue to fight over their million-dollar winery, among other more disturbing allegations, both their adopted and biological children have been showing support for legendary actress Jolie.

Shiloh, Zahara, and Maddox have already taken legal steps to remove Pitt from their last names and now Vivienne is the latest, shortly after her 18th birthday.

Legal documents attained by TMZ suggest that Vivienne is going through some of the final necessary steps when it comes to ditching her dad’s last name, as she has published notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks, while calling for anyone who opposes it to submit a written letter before a final hearing. Well, there’s certainly one person who might not be that keen on the change.

Brad meanwhile is largely estranged from his children, so it’s perhaps no surprise that they’re removing any memory of him, particularly if some of the claims in Jolie’s more recent lawsuits prove to be true.

One of the most alarming allegations in the recent battle over their French winery saw Jolie state that she was simply trying to make herself financially independent as she looked to escape ‘her controlling and abusive ex husband’.

Vivienne is following in the footsteps of sister Zahara, who also made the legal change earlier this summer, having collected her diploma at her graduation under the name Zahara Marley Jolie.

She filed hers just a day after her brother Maddox, while Shiloh was the first to set the trend back in 2024.

After Pitt and Jolie originally met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith, they went on to have three children together and adopted another three, but it seems as if Jolie has taken on the brunt of the parenting in more recent years since their divorce, and she recently opened up about talking to them about death, having lost her own mother to breast cancer at a young age.

Meanwhile, the break-up and divorce hasn’t been easy on Pitt either, as he suggested that he went ‘off the wagon’ following the intense divorce proceedings.

In a new profile with Esquire Pitt said he had been feeling suicidal in the past, adding: “I’ve never been suicidal except for one little period. And in that one little period, I just thought — I just couldn’t — just didn’t see a way out.

“The pain was so oppressive that — I wasn’t going to act on this, but I could feel — I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief.

“I thought, ‘Oh, okay, now I understand’ — I understand suicide, in the sense that it’s just relief. It’s just looking for relief from the pain.

“But I also think we have incredible survival instincts. And for me, that immediately kicked in.”
