As we inch ever closer to the finale of Silo Season 3, there’s no denying that the latest episode delivers a wallop of emotional and narrative intensity that has us all buzzing! We’re so close to the end of Silo Season 3, and the latest hour packs a hell of a punch.
I continue to question whether we really need the past storyline, but I think my mindset is that I don’t care why the silos were created.
I’m more focused on the here and now, so I want to know who is behind the Algorithm and what it wants.
However, I will watch Colin Hanks any day of the week, and I do want to get into Pierre’s story.
What I loved the most, though, was seeing Kennedy’s character growth throughout Silo Season 3 Episode 8.
As much as I questioned why anyone thought it was a good idea to bring him in on the secret, I’m now so glad they did, because he was the driving force to get answers.
The past storyline finally gets into the creation of the silos, and I did enjoy watching Daniel get to point out that Pierre got his math wrong.
Pierre is a smart man with a lot of money, and he quickly proves it by the way he shared that he ruled out an apocalyptic attack, down to nanotechnology.
However, he thinks like an officer, like a billionaire.
Daniel thinks like an engineer, and he knows how to get a project done faster.
Hanks excelled during the hour, carrying a charm as he explained the situation. There wasn’t much that you could say against his realization that an attack was imminent.
Sure, his deciding to build the bunkers is certainly a matter of control, and I just know this is going to link back to the Algorithm in the future.
But we all know that the world is going to end in the way that we know it at some point.
Silo is set in a world where technology has advanced in ways we can only imagine, so no, that’s not how it will likely end in our world at this point.
That’s not to say it can’t happen in the future. It’s not to say that the end of the world isn’t coming in some way.
Of course, someone with money is going to plan for that, and he’s going to want full control over it.
That was the highlight of the hour with this storyline. For the rest of it, I felt a little frustrated.
In fact, I got angry at the way everyone ganged up on Helen when she pointed out everything bad Pierre and the senator had done.
How dare they use Charlotte and her team as cannon fodder?
How is nobody else angry about that, and why would Helen be the one who needed to apologize?
Sure, I expect it from a man like Pierre, but I expected Daniel to have Helen’s back.
Ending the hour with Daniel and Helen kissing as they decide they want to be gray goo — that’s what apparently they’ll turn into due to the nanotechnology — together didn’t make sense considering the way Daniel didn’t even utter a word to stand up for her.
Sorry, that part just wasn’t believable.
My favorite part? Getting Solo back!
Or, I guess we’re calling him Jimmy now, because he’s no longer the only person left in Silo 17. All those survivors have come together and have each other’s backs, which was wonderful to see.
Actually, I lied about Solo coming back being my favorite part. It’s been watching Kennedy get the development he needed.
Just two episodes ago, I questioned why anyone would tell Kennedy so many secrets. Silo Season 3 Episode 8 delivered the reason why.
He was always going to be the only person to get through to Jimmy.
I’m glad the show didn’t waste too much time explaining what happened to Kennedy and Lucas while outside.
They both survived, and they’re both on the mend — although I do have to question how the poison didn’t get into Lucas’ suit after he was shot.
We also didn’t have to waste time on anyone explaining to Jimmy or the kids why Juliette sent Kennedy and Lucas to them.
Of course, they were going to question where their friend was, but they proved they trust her by just accepting the two who came in from the outside.
They quickly figured out the radio code and got to work on finding answers about that safeguard.
How was the pipe blocked? Where is the pipe even located?
This is where my heart breaks for Jimmy, but at the same time, I got to see why Kennedy was the only person for this job.
As Jimmy learns that his mom sacrificed herself to save her silo, he initially can’t face the truth.
Who could? Sure, he’s wondered what happened to his mom all this time, but now he has to face the reality of it.
This is a man who has spent decades alone. He doesn’t know how to deal with these emotions.
Nobody has been through loss like this to help him, either. Nobody except Kennedy.
From Silo Season 1, Kennedy has mourned the loss of his wife. He knows that feeling of grief while also being isolated from the world.
That depth of understanding packed an emotional punch to his words, and Jimmy needed them.
In the end, we get the answers. Jimmy’s mom had realized what she had to do to protect the silo.
While it ended in vain, she made an honorable sacrifice that will help Silo 18.
The question now is whether Shirley can even get to the pipe to destroy the safeguard.
She’s figured out how to do it quickly to ensure she and Knox don’t have to sacrifice themselves, but Camille is one step ahead of everyone right now.
At long last, Camille has switched her brain on.
She’s figured out that Juliette had a reason to send Lucas and Kennedy outside.
No, she hasn’t fully got to the bottom of it, but that doesn’t matter at this point. Take out Jules, and the plan should fall apart.
Now, if only she’d done that two or three episodes ago! Camille is finally thinking, but it is too late for that.
Juliette has formed a plan with enough people who can carry it out for her.
With Shirley, Knox, Walker, Hank, and Bernard all working together, there is a way that they can shut off that safeguard. They just need to regroup.
The question now is whether they can regroup before the memory drugs start working. Will they remember not to drink the Kool-Aid? Yes, that’s what I’m calling the water now.
What happens as people start forgetting everyone and everything around them? How does the silo keep working when people forget the jobs that they’re doing?
What I am glad to see is that one mystery has come to an end.
Hank and Billings got to the bottom of Orla’s murder and the stolen items from Critical Supply.
It wasn’t all that difficult to work out once people started talking, and I’m going to give Knox’s dad a thumbs up for doing the right thing.
Wrapping it up was going to be necessary, with time spent in Silo 17, which I presume will happen in the final two episodes of Silo Season 3.
Now, the focus can be on the safeguard and the Algorithm, because that’s a lot to figure out.
