The Life of a Showgirl is breaking more records.

Taylor Swift‘s latest album sold 2.7 million copies during its release day on Friday, making it her largest week yet, according to data from Luminate sourced by Billboard.

While the record has been out for much less than seven days, Showgirl‘s first-day sales also place it as the second-largest sales week for any album — trailing only behind Adele’s 25, which sold 3.8 million copies in its debut week in 2015. Luminate’s data, too, notably only includes U.S. sales.

Showgirl also now stands as the record with the most vinyl copies sold in a week, with 1.2 millions copies. Swift notably breaks her own record, having previously sold 859,000 vinyl copies of The Tortured Poets Department in 2024.

First day sales numbers include over-the-counter and download purchases, Billboard points out, in addition to pre-orders of the physical and digital album.

It’s no secret that Swift’s latest album has been shattering records left and right. Just shy of 12 hours after Showgirl released on Friday, Spotify revealed the project had the most single-day streams on Spotify in 2025 so far. Additionally, Apple Music reported the album has the most single-day streams for a record this year on the platform, while Amazon Music said it’s their most-streamed album of all time for a single day.

To celebrate the release, Swift celebrated a limited theatrical run of the album’s adjoining cinematic experience, entitled Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. The film dominated the Oct. 3-5 box office.

In The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of the movie, TV critic Angie Han wrote, “Playing only one weekend in theaters, the 89-minute cinematic experience — neither visual album nor concert film, and not quite a documentary — is strictly for the diehards. But while there’s something to be said for the communal experience of absorbing an album surrounded by dozens of likeminded fans, what’s actually being served up on screen is more filler than killer.”
