The home of Linda Blair, star of The Exorcist, was searched as part of an investigation into a possible kennel operation.
Blair, who famously played Regan MacNeil in The Exorcist and sequels, has provided an update after her home in South California was searched by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) as they’d heard there were over 100 dogs there.
They said in a statement: “The goal is to inspect this property for buildings and structures associated with a kennel operation reported to have more than 100 dogs.”
The actor fully co-operated with the search and later took to Instagram to explain what was going on and what the possible hullaballoo about all of these dogs might be.
In a video she explained that the animals were all doing fine but there was some paperwork to do on her part, and she thought a letter about the matter might have sufficed.

People reports that according to the DACC, Blair’s permits expired back in 2023 and attempts to get in contact had gone unanswered, saying their warrant allowed them access to her property to check things were in ‘compliance with County codes’.
They said they were there to check on ‘animal care, safety conditions, and overall welfare of the dogs housed on the property’.
Speaking on Instagram, Blair said that both she and the animals were ‘fine’, they just needed to get some documentation done so all the right boxes were being ticked.
“Checking in. I’m good. The animals are good in lieu of our surprise visit in 105° heat!” she said as part of her post.
“With as busy as we all are in animal rescue and saving lives from the hot deserts and abandoned animals and shelters, everyone’s emails and social media are overloaded!
“Turns out we just have some paperwork to do and some diagrams, but as everybody knows, I’m looking to move so I can be more educational and help more animals.”
“I’d rather move forward. And I always say you know a good old-fashioned letter of contact always works. Be safe safe lives support animal rescue cause we’re all fighting to save lives.”

No dogs were taken away in the search and it sounds like Blair just needs to do a bit of the admin involved with keeping so many animals in one place.
While she has still appeared in acting projects over the years, in 2003 she established a foundation to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned animals in need of a new home and told People it was her ‘life’s calling’.
She said: “”n my 20s, I said, ‘I really am struggling.’ It was like, for some, a midlife crisis.
“But, for me, it was my life’s calling, saying, ‘What about me? The animals need help.’
“So that’s where I really started buckling down… and I was giving my time and money.”
Blair said she’d always dreamed about being a vet and looking after animals, as well as helping them find a new home that’ll look after them properly for the rest of their lives.
