After announcing her tour participation during the Tuesday, October 6, broadcast, Arnold told Us Weekly she was eager to return. “I’m really, really excited to come back,” the 21-year-old said. “It’s a little bit shorter than it was the year before, so I felt like I can manage it with my health and everything.”

For Arnold, who joined “DWTS” as a professional dancer in 2023, the schedule was a meaningful factor in her decision. She previously stepped away from touring to focus on managing her Type 1 diabetes, which she has spoken about finding challenging on the road.

Now, she feels ready to make that return. “I can’t wait to be back and doing it again,” she added.

Rylee Arnold Previously Called Sitting Out A ‘Hard Decision’

Arnold’s excitement comes after she publicly explained why she needed a break from an experience she loved. “So sad I won’t be on the DWTS tour this year,” she previously wrote on Instagram Stories, according to Us Weekly. “Being on tour the last two years was seriously the most amazing experience ever. I’ve made the best memories and met the best people.”

Despite those memories, Arnold said her health needed to take priority. “This year, I had to make the hard decision to sit it out and focus on my health, especially with managing my Type 1 diabetes, which can be tricky on the road,” she said at the time.

Her Diagnosis Left Her Wondering Whether She Could Dance Again

Arnold was diagnosed with diabetes at age 15, years before becoming a familiar face in the “DWTS” ballroom. Reflecting on that experience in a 2024 interview with Women’s Health, she described how overwhelming it felt to absorb the diagnosis and its implications.

“Those were the hardest three days of my life,” Arnold recalled. “The reality set in on how difficult managing this disease was going to be and how much it was going to change everything. Every 20 minutes, a new person would come in and tell me something new. It was so overwhelming. My biggest thought was, ‘Am I going to be able to dance again?’”

Arnold later began using a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor to help track her blood sugar levels alongside her dance commitments. Dancing remained central to her life, but her previous decision to sit out the tour showed that continuing her career also meant making room for her health.

The celebrity lineup hasn’t been announced yet, but Arnold already has someone in mind for select dates. “I think we should get him [to join],” she said of Wood.

The comedian is currently competing with Arnold on season 35. During Mariah Carey Night, the pair earned 19 out of 30 for their rumba to “Touch My Body.” Their performance also featured Wood doing the worm across the ballroom floor, a move with an unexpected backstory.

“Rylee had the knee slide [in her choreography], and then I think the one-legged worm is from … a comedy special [I filmed] in June in Florida,” Wood explained. “I visited a male strip club, and the young men there taught me some moves. That was what that was. They were like, ‘It’s not the worm as much as Magic Mike ’cause you can stabilize yourself with your right leg.’ They’re very talented.”

Connor Wood’s Ballroom Move Came With A Wardrobe Mishap

Wood managed to pull off the floor move, but his silky shirt did not make it through the routine intact. “[The] first time I hit the ground, I was like, ‘Huh, that’s different,’” he said, revealing that his shirt ripped. “I was wondering if it was, like, my butt or my back ’cause I just heard it. It goes, and I was like, ‘I hope my butt is not out.’ Like, imagine trying to be sexy and, like, your whitey-tighties are showing on TV!”

Arnold did not notice the wardrobe malfunction because she was focused on making sure her partner executed the choreography.

Wood also admitted that learning the routine required their usual banter to take a back seat. “I will say this is the first week where [our] banter had leveled out because I didn’t have this choreography done until, like, yesterday,” he said.

Whether Wood eventually joins the tour remains to be seen. Arnold, however, is already looking forward to returning to the stage with a schedule she feels better equipped to manage.
