“But to behave in this manner in these particular circumstances, and so soon after the incident at RAF Fairford, demonstrates an extraordinary lack of judgment,” the statement continued, referencing a suspected terror plot at the RAF Fairford military base.

Reacting to the statement, former royal protection officer Dai Davis claimed that the couple’s statement was “nonsense,” while also slamming them for bringing up the RAF incident.

“Paparazzi is not a security incident,” Davis said, per reports. “It is just to be expected. It’s not unrealistic to expect some paparazzi who will chance their arm; the security team can deal with that easily.”

“If you look at the track record, such as the New York car incident, they are nothing of real consequence,” he continued. “I hope Ravec aren’t swayed, and common sense prevails, as all the incidents amount to sweet FA.”

Davis then added, “There’s no comparison to Fairford. It’s bordering on shameless but ridiculous as well.”

As previously reported by The Blast, two young men were noticed by private security and members of the school’s staff as they walked around the perimeter of Archie and Lilibet’s school.

The men were said to have stopped at several points and looked into the school grounds. They were initially seen separately before eventually returning to a white van.

Police have established that the vehicle was a rental and the two men were subsequently identified as international photographers working for a known European press agency. Both were reportedly carrying backpacks during the incident.

The situation is particularly sensitive because the school is attended by children from a number of families, including American families connected to a nearby US military installation at an RAF base.

The paparazzi incident comes after Harry and Meghan pushed back on a letter sent out by King Charles in which the couple was described as “private citizens,” with insiders noting that they would have preferred the term “public figures” due to their status and philanthropic endeavors.

The monarch clarified Harry and Meghan’s position upon their return to the UK, affirming that the couple will remain outside the working monarchy.

Speaking to Fox News, royal expert Helena Chard stressed that the letter indicated that Charles had “drawn a line in the sand” with the Sussexes, and that there is nothing left to talk about when it comes to their position in the royal family.

“King Charles’ narrative is decisive as he draws a line in the sand — nothing new here, no more discussion required,” Chard said, adding that Harry “lacks power to amend and dictate the monarch’s statement,” despite being his son.

She also pointed out that Harry’s elder brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are the future king and queen, and they officially speak for the Crown alongside Charles and his queen Camilla.

The timing of the correspondence bothered Harry and Meghan, who were revealed by a spokesperson for the couple to be “a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”

Chard described the development as a “reality check” for the Sussexes, arguing that the couple returned to Britain “seemingly” wanting to “continue as if they were still working royals.”

The royal broadcaster compared Harry and Meghan being “caught off guard” to years of the royal family being taken by surprise by Harry’s “Spare” memoir, their Netflix documentaries, and the famous Oprah interview.
