Ever wonder if Mercury being in retrograde has anything to do with late-night TV going off the rails? The guy made some pretty divisive remarks about the shooter who tragically ended Charlie Kirk’s life — and ABC didn’t hesitate to yank his show off the air. It’s like the universe decided this was the moment for some cosmic chaos, and poor ol’ Jimmy Fallon’s left scratching his head and sending good vibes to his fellow comic. Fallon openly admitted on his own show he’s just as clueless about the suspension as the rest of us, but he’s rooting for Kimmel’s comeback. Meanwhile, the FCC has dropped harsh critiques, calling Kimmel’s comments the “sickest conduct possible,” and media giant Nexstar swiftly pulled his program from hundreds of stations. Jimmy Fallon Doesn’t ‘Know What’s Going On’ About The Cancellation Of The ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Show

The 51-year-old TV host started on a light-hearted note, saying, “Well, guys, the big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC, leaving everyone thinking WTF? What’s going on?”

He also joked that his dad had left him 100 messages empathizing with him for the cancellation of his show, but he laughed it off, saying it wasn’t him, it was the other Jimmy.

On a more serious note, the comedian went ahead to address the situation directly.

“To be honest with you all, I don’t know what’s going on, and no one does. But I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he’s a decent, funny, and loving guy, and I hope he comes back,” he said.

Fallon then addressed fans’ concerns that he would become tight-lipped on his show for fear of being cancelled.

However, he assured them that he wouldn’t, saying, “A lot of people are worried that we won’t keep saying what we want to say, or that we’ll be censored. But I’m going to cover the president’s trip to the UK just like I normally would. Here we go!”

After the assurances, the comedian quickly used the opportunity to create a comedic moment by speaking about Donald Trump’s visit to the UK. However, most of his remarks were cut off with humorous voice-overs that said the opposite of what he would normally say about Trump.

Instead of criticism, the audio was edited to make Fallon appear to say only positive things about the president and his administration.

Fallon’s comments come after Kimmel spoke about Charlie Kirk’s death during his Monday night monologue.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said in his monologue.

However, he received a lot of heat for it, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)  condemned his statements.

The commission’s chief, Brendan Carr, said that the way Kimmel acted was “the sickest conduct possible,” as reported by The Blast.

After Carr’s statements, ABC confirmed that the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ show would be “preempted indefinitely.”

The media company, Nextar, wasted no time pulling Kimmel’s show from its 200 stations countrywide.

A representative for the company said that the network “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk.”

There were more calls for disciplinary measures to be taken against Kimmel, as Carr said it would only be “very reasonable” for the TV host to issue a public apology for his statements.

The FCC chief also hinted at possibly using a long-term suspension as a disciplinary measure to avoid similar situations happening in the future.

Following the cancellation, insiders confirmed Kimmel himself was just as shocked about the move.

The Blast reported that the 57-year-old TV personality was very upset by the situation. An insider close to the matter said he was “absolutely f-cking livid” and was “actively” searching for ways to get out of his contract with the network.

Another noted that they had never seen Kimmel as angry as he was. The host reportedly attended a crisis meeting with ABC bosses to discuss what comes next.
