Ever wonder what happens when the cosmic energies of a fading European hotel meet the star power of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and the legendary Martin Scorsese? Picture this: a married couple on a quest to adopt a child, winding through shadowy corridors filled with quirky, oddball characters — kind of like a Scorpio moon influencing mysterious vibes, right? Well, that’s exactly the setup for Scorsese’s next directorial adventure, adapted from the ghost novel What Happens At Night. Written by Patrick Marber, the screenplay promises an eerie but fascinating journey, with Apple Original Films and Studiocanal possibly joining forces to bring it to life. This project marks Jennifer Lawrence’s first time acting under Scorsese’s direction—surprising, given all the buzz around their collaborations behind the scenes. Meanwhile, DiCaprio and Scorsese are teaming up again, following their recent Apple feature Killers of the Flower Moon. With DiCaprio stepping next into Paul Thomas Anderson’s world and Lawrence gearing up for Die, My Love, Scorsese’s plate is delightfully full — even as he juggles a crime drama set in Hawaii starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Could the stars be aligning for an epic cinematic constellation? I’m here for it! LEARN MORE.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence will star in the next movie for Martin Scorsese, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The film is an adaptation of the ghost novel What Happens At Night, which follows a married couple that travels to Europe to adopt a baby, staying in a cavernous, fading European hotel filled with eccentric characters. Patrick Marber (Closer) penned the screenplay.
Apple Original Films is in talks to finance and produce the movie with Studiocanal.
The movie marks the first onscreen collaboration for Lawrence with Scorsese as a director. (Scorsese is a producer on Lawrence’s upcoming feature Die, My Love). DiCaprio last worked with his longtime collaborator on Apple feature’ Killers of the Flower Moon.
DiCaprio can next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie One Battle After Another, while Jennifer Lawrence will next be in theaters with Die, My Love. The move comes as Scorsese is balancing a few features in development, including a Hawaii-set crime drama that would star Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
