It’s hard to believe that Big Brother Season 28 is finally in full swing!

I can honestly say I’ve steered clear of the broadcast networks since late May, when most scripted series wrapped up for the season.

So, it’s nice to have something to watch again. Big Brother Season 28 Episode 1 was a wild premiere that fully embraced the season’s “Time Trip” twist.

Along with introducing 14 new Big Brother houseguests, the premiere brought reality TV veterans Rick Devens, Angela Murray, and Rachel Reilly into the mix.

Rachel was a polarizing returnee on Big Brother Season 27, so it was a genuine shock when she walked through those doors, especially because her appearance somehow stayed under wraps.

That was no small feat considering the preseason leaks.

Dee Valladares had already been revealed as the third CBS veteran returning, and after Rachel was tossed into a volcano during the premiere while Julie teased a replacement player, it became pretty clear those leaks were legitimate.

Dee officially entered the game during Friday’s Big Brother Unlocked premiere, and before long, the live feeds were underway.

As TV Fanatic reported earlier this week, Dee won the first Head of Household competition.

She beat out Rick and Angela for the win, and given her Survivor résumé, it wasn’t exactly an upset.

Now that the first week is underway, Dee has made her opening move by nominating three houseguests.

Rome, Chuck, and Jason all won safety during the opening competitions, meaning they’re off-limits this week.

As for Rick and Angela, it’s still unclear whether the returning players also received safety.

Even if they didn’t, it would have been surprising to see Dee take a shot at fellow reality TV veterans this early in the game.

Keeping someone like Angela around might actually be the smarter play. She has to be one of the most headline-grabbing casting decisions Big Brother has ever made.

Angela brings an old-school style to the game where she’s completely unafraid to call people out, and I have a feeling she’ll stir up plenty of drama during her second run in the house.

So, who actually landed on the block?

When the live feeds launched Friday evening, Mallory, Taylor, and Yash were sitting in the nomination chairs.

Honestly, these nominations aren’t all that surprising.

Week 1 is usually about keeping blood off your hands, and Dee appears to be playing it safe rather than swinging for the fences.

There’s plenty of time for big moves once alliances settle and the cracks begin to show.

Of course, there’s still a lot of game left to play before Thursday’s live eviction.

The Blockbuster competition is back this season, which means Dee’s target could easily save themselves before eviction night rolls around.

The twist gets plenty of criticism from fans, but I actually think it makes the live shows more exciting because everything can change in an instant.

Alright, Big Brother Fanatics!

We still have the Veto competition, a potential replacement nominee, and several days of live feeds before anyone heads out the door.

What do you think about Survivor alum Dee officially joining the game? Are you on board with her nominations, or do you think she’s already making a mistake?
