As tributes continue pouring in for Presley Gerber, one from his former girlfriend offers a particularly personal look at the battle he spent years fighting.
Lexi Wood, who briefly dated the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in 2022, shared intimate photographs, videos, and even a handwritten message from their relationship as she reflected on a bond she said ultimately became much bigger than romance.
However, one part of her tribute stood out. Wood said Presley “fought so hard for his life” and praised him for being willing to expose that struggle publicly, hoping someone else might benefit from what he endured.
Her words closely mirror something Presley himself had been saying for years.
Wood shared her tribute on Instagram, looking back at different moments from her history with Presley.
“It’s hard to put into words what it means to lose someone who was such a meaningful part of my life for so many years,” she wrote.
Although their public romance was short-lived, Wood suggested their connection continued through different stages.
“Through every chapter and every version of our relationship, friendship was always at the core of it,” she explained.
She remembered Presley as “one of the kindest, most open, loving and courageous people” and described him as deeply romantic and thoughtful.
Among the memories Wood shared was a note Presley had written to her that read, “I’m so proud of you, you’re amazing Lexi. I love you, Pres.”
Wood’s tribute eventually turned toward the struggles Presley had increasingly chosen to discuss publicly.
“He was also incredibly resilient,” she wrote. “He fought so hard for his life and he was brave enough to be open about that fight.”
Her wording did not describe Presley’s final moments. Instead, Wood was reflecting on his years-long battle with addiction and mental health struggles, subjects he had repeatedly addressed himself.
More than anything, she said, Presley wanted something meaningful to come from what he experienced.
“He wanted to use his story to help other people, and he did,” Wood wrote.
That observation carries particular weight because Presley had expressed essentially the same goal years earlier.
During a 2023 appearance on the “Studio 22” podcast, Presley explained that his own experiences with depression had made helping others a major priority.
Whether he helped “one person or a hundred people” escape the place he had once found himself in, he said, that would be enough for him.
Wood’s connection to Presley Gerber also extended to his family.
The couple went Instagram official in November 2022 after attending Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s Casamigos Halloween party together. They also appeared publicly with his parents before their breakup the following month.
However, years later, Wood was still speaking positively about the Gerbers.
During a May 2025 appearance on “The Viall Files,” Wood discussed having dated people from famous families, including Presley and Brooklyn Beckham.
She described the Gerbers and Beckhams as the type of close-knit families she was accustomed to being around, noting how they traveled together, advised one another, and supported each other’s careers.
“That mindset is your family has your back, period,” Wood said of families like the Gerbers, according to PEOPLE.
Wood’s description of Presley as someone willing to make his struggles visible also tracks with the direction his public life had taken before his death.
In one of his final major social media posts, Presley documented undergoing ibogaine treatment while trying to overcome his addiction. He admitted he was “absolutely terrified” but said he had reached a point where he needed to confront what he had been running from.
Months later, at his final known public appearance in June, Presley again made honesty the center of his message.
“The most free I felt was when I was finally honest with myself,” he told attendees at the mental-health-focused We Are ENOUGH x Aviator Nation event in Malibu, where Crawford and Rande joined him.
That pattern makes Wood’s observation that he wanted his story to help others more than a sentiment offered after his death.
Presley had repeatedly articulated that goal himself. As The Blast previously reported, recovery and mental-health advocacy had become increasingly visible parts of his life during his final months.
Wood is not the only former partner publicly remembering Presley.
His ex-girlfriend Charlotte D’Alessio, who had a longer relationship with the model beginning in 2018, also shared photographs and emotional memories following his death.
As The Blast reported, D’Alessio described what they shared as “pure love” and expressed anger that Presley did not get more time.
Wood’s tribute focused heavily on something slightly different: the friendship that survived different versions of their relationship and the effort she witnessed Presley put into surviving his personal struggles.
“I feel so lucky to have shared so many years of friendship, so many memories and so much love with him,” she wrote. “He will always hold such a special place in my heart.”
Presley died on September 20 at age 27. Santa Monica police are investigating his death as a suspected overdose and have said there is no indication of foul play.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has deferred both the cause and manner of death while additional testing is completed.
