The “Havoc” actress has revealed she underwent a successful kidney transplant after an innovative donor exchange program connected her with what she described as a nearly perfect match.
Following a health scare that forced her back onto dialysis and prompted an emotional appeal for help, Bijou is now looking toward recovery while thanking the loved ones, doctors, and strangers who made her second chance possible.
Bijou Phillips shared the life-changing update with fans on Instagram, posting a smiling photo from her hospital bed as she reflected on the journey that led to her second kidney transplant.
Rather than receiving a direct donation from her brother, Aron Wilson, he entered a kidney exchange program that allowed another patient to receive his kidney.
That act of generosity eventually led the voucher program to locate an ideal donor for Bijou.
“My wonderful brother donated in the kidney exchange! He saved a life, and the life he saved had a special person donate for them, and then a few weeks later! The voucher program found me a perfect match!” she wrote.
The 46-year-old explained that she was stunned by how closely the donor matched her. “So close it’s like I got the kidney from one of my parents!” she added.
Bijou also thanked everyone who volunteered to be tested after she publicly appealed for a living donor earlier this year. In her words, “I am beyond beyond grateful to everyone who rushed into help me, get checked to donate, you are all heros!”

Months before celebrating her successful kidney transplant, Bijou Phillips admitted she feared she was running out of time as she searched desperately for another donor.
Speaking to Us Weekly about her health battle in February, the socialite revealed she had been back on dialysis for a year after her 2017 transplanted kidney failed and described her condition as increasingly precarious.
“I’ve needed a transplant for a year. I’m sort of hanging on by a thread,” Bijou said, explaining that while dialysis was keeping her alive, it offered no guarantees.
She added, “I could make it on dialysis for a couple years, or I could get an infection in my line tomorrow and be gone in a few days. I’m really hopeful, [but] it’s an extremely urgent situation.”
Bijou also revealed that more than 1,300 people volunteered to be tested after her public appeal, though only about 50 to 60 appeared to be possible matches as doctors continued searching for a compatible donor.
